Biometric information input device, biometric authentication device, biometric information processing method, and computer-readable recording medium recording biometric information processing program

The invention is a biometric information input device including biometric information collection means for reading a relatively-moving living body site and successively collecting a plurality of partial images of the living body site as biometric information, movement direction detection means for detecting a movement direction of the living body site with respect to the biometric information collection means based on the biometric information collected by the biometric information collection means, and coordinate conversion means for performing a coordinate conversion on the biometric information collected by the biometric information collection means using the movement direction detected by the movement direction detection means, thereby allowing the device to be used irrespective of a direction in which a living body is swept when biometric information is entered.

System and method for an automated sales system with remote negotiation and post-sale verification

The present invention provides a system and method to process items for sale or bid, to transmit electronic negotiations between prospective buyer and seller, and to verify the condition of the item before delivery to the buyer. The invention facilitates autonomous and remote negotiation between sellers and prospective buyers while protecting buyers from fraud and item misrepresentation. With the present invention, items can be sold individually and are not treated as standardized items that are interchangeable with similar commodity goods. The present invention also provides a waitlisting function. In addition, the functionality of traditional auction systems may be integrated with the novel features of the present invention. Furthermore, the present invention provides a system and method for conducting a reverse auction by allowing prospective buyers to list desired items.

Display panel and data processing device

A novel display panel that is highly convenient or reliable is provided. A novel data processing device that is highly convenient or reliable is provided. A novel human interface that is highly convenient or reliable is provided. A structure including a display region where a first region, a first bendable region, and a second bendable region are arranged in stripes is devised. The display region can be folded along a fold line formed in the first bendable region such that the ratio of the length of the short side of the first region to the length of the long side thereof is 0.9 times or more and 1.1 times or less the ratio of the length of the short side of the display region to the length of the long side thereof.

Method and system for maneuvering aquatic vessels

An aquatic vessel (500) includes a hull (20) and two engines (30, 50), the engine (30, 50) outputs being rotationally couplable to corresponding propeller units (332, 352) which are mounted so as to be angularly moveable in respect of the hull (20). The vessel (500) includes a control unit (70) for controlling operation of the engines (30, 50) and angles (α1, α2) of the propeller units (332, 352) with respect to the hull (20). The vessel (500) is configurable to operate in a first mode wherein directions of thrust developed by the propeller units (332, 352) are mutually substantially parallel for propelling the vessel (500) through water, and a second “fishing” mode of operation wherein the directions of thrust developed by the propeller units (332, 352) are configured to mutually diverge with respect to a longitudinal axis from a rear end of the vessel (500) to a forward end thereof for providing the vessel (500) with a turning characteristic (160) in operation. The control unit (70) is configured to receive in operation user-instructions for commanding the control unit (70) to operate in the second mode for causing the propeller units (3320, 352) to be angularly orientated in a divergent manner in respect of the longitudinal direction. The control unit (70) controls rotation of the vessel (500) by controlling power coupled from the two engines (30, 50) and delivered to their propeller units (332, 352) and forward/reverse coupling of the propeller units (332, 352).

Magnetic stamp printing device

An improved rubber stamp fastening and printing device consisting of operatively magnetic or veritable magnetic stamp-die components and an outer magnetic connecting mount, utilizing distinct vertical magnets imbedded within a transparent material. Both the stamp-dies and mount are provided with suitable magnetic means with which to maintain a secure, yet easily manipulable magnetic bond; where these components are themselves composed of are either magnet, or ferromagnetic materials. The combination between strong slender vertical magnets or and the viewable negative spaces within the compositional translucent material create a superior transparency through the mount; this ability to directly view the see the magnetically fastened stamp-dies from reverse, allows for a very high degree of control and ability to accurately place these magnetic stamp-dies during the process of stamping. Flexible magnet or ferromagnetic sheeting can be cut by hand into various shapes and attached to the mount in order to function as alternative hand-cut magnet printing stamp-dies. Structural expansion of the stamp mount can result in a sheet storage device for holding a plurality of magnetic stamp member-dies for use in a binder system for example. The permanent magnet stamp mount of this invention, when used alone can function as a highly-translucent permanent magnet which operates in the usual magnet manner, such as a fastening magnetically reactive metal objects. Or the magnetic stamp-dies (or even the mount itself) can function by themselves as decorative and utilitarian magnets. When magnetic elements are imbedded in a non rigid transparent material, the stamp mount can be modified to create a flexible, malleable semi-transparent magnet which is capable of conforming to a high degree to the shape of the form being fastened to.

Automatic retractable syringe

InactiveUS20090209823A1Simplified and portable deviceHighly convenientSurgeryEndoscopesPistonSyringe
An automatic retractable syringe includes a tubular body on which a syringe opening is provided; a piston body in whose pressing portion a vent hole VA is formed and in whose shaft portion a vent passage passing from the vent hole VA through inside to the front end portion is formed; and a spring which returns the pressed piston body to its original position. When the pressing portion is pressed by a thumb or other finger plugging the vent hole VA to move the piston body forward, air is supplied from the syringe opening. Subsequently, when the thumb or other finger is released, air flows into the tubular body through the vent hole VA and the vent passage, and the piston body automatically returns to its original position by the spring. Therefore, air can be consecutively supplied by repeatedly pressing the pressing portion.

Display device

A display device includes a display panel and a shutter panel that is provided on the viewer side of the display panel and includes a first liquid crystal element and a second liquid crystal element adjacent to each other. In a first display state, a first light-shielding region and a first light-transmitting region are formed in the shutter panel by the first liquid crystal element, and light from the display panel is emitted through the first light-transmitting region. In a second display state, a second light-shielding region larger than the first light-shielding region and a second light-transmitting region smaller than the first light-transmitting region are formed in the shutter panel by the first liquid crystal element and the second liquid crystal element, and light from the display panel is emitted through the second light-transmitting region.
