Energy saving outlet and an energy saving method by using an outlet

The present invention relates to an energy saving outlet, which comprises: a housing, having at least one first opening and a second opening thereon, for disposing the following elements at least one outlet, disposed in the housing and exposed the first opening, for providing an electrical equipment being plugged into; a sensor, disposed in the housing and exposed the second opening, for sensing a starting signal of the electrical equipment; a control unit, disposed in the housing and coupled to the sensor, for outputting a control signal when it receives the starting signal; a relay, one end being coupled to a power input terminal, and another end being coupled to the control unit, for being changed to an on or off state through the control signal; thereby the energy saving outlet can turn OFF its power when the electrical equipment has entered a stand-by state, so as to achieve the goal of energy saving. Furthermore, the present invention also provides an energy saving method by using an outlet.

Shift register, liquid crystal display device having the shift register and method of driving scan lines using the same

In a bi-directional shift register and a liquid crystal display device having the bi-directional shift register, the shift register further includes a dummy stage for resetting a last stage. The dummy stage is reset by a control signal of the last stage or by the output signal of the dummy stage. Therefore, power consumption and layout area may be reduced. The shift register includes a plurality of stages and two dummy stages, and two selection signals for selecting shift direction is applied to each of the stages.

Computer System Power Management Based on Task Criticality

A method, apparatus, and program product are provided for managing power consumption in a computer system based on the degree with which performance of tasks can be degraded in order to save power. A criticality value controls the degree with which performance of a task may be degraded is associated with tasks within a computer system. Power consumption of the computer system is then managed based on the criticality values associated with tasks executing within the computer system. A reduction in computer system power consumption can be realized by degrading the performance of non-critical tasks, which is accomplished by reducing the power consumed by at least a portion of the computer system. Power can also be reduced by scheduling non-critical tasks to portions of the computer system and reducing power consumption of other portions of the computer system.

Receiving apparatus, and display apparatus and television broadcasting system therewith

At the time of a sleep mode, a power-source control section stops the power supply to a tuner, a demodulation section, an AV-data processing section and a microcomputer, and executes a power supply only to a standby tuner. The standby tuner receives a start signal which is transmitted from a head end, using a frequency except a specific frequency which is received by the tuner, and outputs a power-supply instruction signal according to the start signal. The power-source control section executes a power supply to the tuner, the demodulation section, the AV-data processing section and the microcomputer, in response to the power-supply instruction signal.
