An electronic stylus system includes an electronic stylus and base receiving unit. The electronic stylus includes a first ultrasonic transmitter, a second ultrasonic transmitter, an electromagnetic transmitter, and a writing tip. The base receiver unit includes a first ultrasonic receiver, a second ultrasonic receiver, and an electromagnetic receiver. The ultrasonic receivers of the base unit are operable to receive signals transmitted by the ultrasonic transmitters of the electronic stylus. Similarly, the electromagnetic receiver of the base unit is operable to receive signals transmitted by the electromagnetic transmitter of the stylus. The location of the tip of the electronic stylus relative to a given reference point is determined using the locations of two ultrasonic transmitters relative to the two ultrasonic receivers.

The invention relates to a novel reusable water writing paper which is prepared from a color developing component and a substrate. According to the color developing principle of the novel reusable water writing paper, a water photochromic dye is used as the color developing component; after the paper is wetted, molecular configuration or comformation change is caused to further cause obvious color change to develop color; after water is dried, a molecular structure is recovered, and the color fades; different colors can be shown through change of molecular substituent groups. When people write on the paper, handwriting is clear and is not easily diffused. The surface of the paper is smooth and is reusable; the paper, people can do writing and drawing exercises on the paper with a writing brush and can also write on the paper with a pen. In addition, no ink printing can be realized by spraying water. Due to the special response to water, the water writing paper can be applied to humidity detecting cards, safety and anti-counterfeiting field and the like.

An electronic writing tablet is composed of one or more layers on which an image is formed and can be selectively erased. One aspect of the invention is a bistable cholesteric writing tablet on which an image is formed while applying writing pressure. The image can be fully erased and new images written on the tablet. In addition, one can selectively erase any or all portions of the written image to restore the original background color. Another aspect of the invention is a multi-color stacked writing tablet in which a color of an image is selected (usually by applying a suitable voltage) while applying writing pressure using an instrument such as an untethered stylus on the surface of the tablet. The system includes a display substrate having a mounting surface; at least three modular learning placards affixed to the mounting surface, each placard independently displaying information relating to a topic; and a plurality of reversibly affixable learning devices, each independently presenting information that corresponds to the topic.Also contemplated within the scope of the invention are educational kits for use in the instruction of a plurality of children having one or more learning disabilities. Such kits may include the teaching system described above and may further include instructor-targeted materials communicating use of the system to the instructor. If such materials are present in the kit, they may be in a format selected from a written format, an electronic format, an audio format and a video format.

Display device including a unitary, rigid sheet defining a left center panel, a right center panel pivotally connected to the left center panels, a left side panel pivotally connected to the left center panel and a right side panel pivotally connected to the right center panel. A dry erase panel assembly for use as a teaching aid includes a first panel with a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge, and a right edge. The first panel includes a writing section that is adapted to eraseably receive markings thereon. Compared with the prior art, the calligraphy and painting practice machine has the advantages of good writing or drawing effect and high water writing cloth drying speed and the advantage that the water writing cloth can automatically and continuously move or move at a fixed distance.

A modular collaborative panel system intended for use on walls, frames and stands is disclosed. The system uses dry erase boards, chalk or black boards, or other panels having at least one writing surface. The panels have notches or cut-outs on each side so the panels can be mounted to a wall or a frame using pegs. The system combines panels in rows or columns, or both, to form a large, modular system for use at meetings, gatherings or other assemblies. The system allows a large number of users to contribute to a presentation, and also allows users to view the presentation.

The present invention is directed to a display device which comprises two layers of insulating substrate, at least the substrate on the viewing side is transparent, an array of display cells sandwiched between the two layers of substrate, a writing means, and optionally an erasing means to magnetically or electrically erase the image. The display cells are filled with a dispersion of magnetic particles which may be charged or non-charged. The display of the invention eliminates the use of the transparent conductor film, such as ITO, on the viewing side. Therefore, the displays of this invention are more cost effective, more flexible and durable and capable of higher image contrast ratio and higher reflectance in the Dmin area.

A paint tray that can be used in the vertical as well as horizontal position to hold paint for use with a roller. Formed longitudinally inside the tray is an inclined bottom surface designed to return excess paint to the basin when the paint tray is disposed horizontally. Formed on the inclined surfaces is a plurality of parallel raised contact surfaces that provides a directional contact surface used to remove excess paint from the roller and return the excess paint to the basin. The length of the inclined surface is sufficient to create freeboard for use in the vertical position without risk of spillage. The paint tray is equipped with a pair of legs attached to its distal end that allows the paint tray to rest vertically on the rung(s) of a ladder or step(s) of a stepladder, as well as horizontally on the ladder shelf as in traditional paint trays. A magnetic glass dry erase board including a glass sheet, a metal sheet and an adhesive layer. The glass sheet has an inner surface and an outer surface. The metal sheet has an inner surface and an outer surface. The adhesive layer substantially covers the inner surface of the glass sheet and the outer surface of the metal sheet to retain the glass sheet in a stationary relationship with respect to the metal sheet. The adhesive layer also enhances a strength of the glass sheet and protects persons from injury if the glass sheet is broken by retaining glass pieces on the metal sheet.

A low gloss dry-erasable multilayer composite comprises a first layer having a dry-erasable outer surface and a second layer having a microroughened surface. Preferably, the second layer is microroughened by cure-induced surface wrinkling. The first layer preferably comprises a polymer comprising at least one pendant fluoroalkoxyalkyl functionality. A glass dry-erase board. The glass dry-erase board has a smooth transparent glass writing surface. One embodiment utilizes tempered glass sheet, which provides the writing surface and has a non-specular and light blocking rear surface treatment and attached white plastic sheet on the back side of the glass sheet. The invention is a display article having a flexible substrate which includes a writing surface capable of being used as a dry erase surface. A peripheral edge extends around the writing surface. A flexible framing strip is affixed to the writing surface at a position proximate to the peripheral edge. One embodiment of the display article can be made by forming a substrate having a writing surface. The substrate defines a periphery edge, a back surface, and a plurality of mushroom shaped hooks extending from the back surface substantially over the entire back surface. At least a portion of the periphery of the writing substrate is folded over to form a framing strip having a plurality of exposed mushroom shaped hooks. A blackboard eraser including a cube having two semi-cylindrical grooves symmetrically arranged in a longitudinal direction therein, and a central brush atop an elevated surface formed between the two grooves. A longitudinal groove is defined underneath each of the send-cylindrical grooves, and equal-length side brushes, which are affixed to an inner surface of a lid, are respectively positioned in the longitudinal grooves. Two grooves are arranged adjacent to each end of the semi-cylindrical grooves, which provide for a shaft affixed to each end of a roller to dispose therein. The brushes and the rollers form the eraser, which are enclosed within a closed chamber between the lid and the two semi-cylindrical grooves. When erasing chalk dust from a blackboard, the chalk dust sticks to the rollers and is carried to the side brushes. The side brushes then wipes the dust, which falls into the closed chamber.

In systems that enable collaboration, techniques are provided for communicating and displaying positional information with respect to these systems so as to enhance the collaborative experience. The systems may include interactive whiteboard (IWB) systems participating in a collaborative session. A pressure-sensitive light-extracting drawing surface including a light guide operable to receive a light source, wherein light is extracted from a light guide when pressure is applied to the drawing surface by a marking instrument. A resultant light-emitting drawing can be erased or can be made permanent. An optional multi-layered film disposed on the light guide allows drawings to be created in fluorescent, luminescent, phosphorescent, or photochromic colors. A background sheet containing designs may be inserted behind the light guide. The drawing surface can be embodied as a pressure-sensitive light-extracting “paper.” The invention may be embodied as a drawing tablet, a drawing tablet add-on to a modular graphic display device, or a toy drawing tablet for tracing alphabets, numerals, and characters from comic books, cartoons, and movies.
