Methods and systems for assessing athletic performance

The invention detects the loft time, speed, power and / or drop distance of a vehicle, such as a sporting vehicle, during activities of moving and jumping. A loft sensor detects when the vehicle leaves the ground and when the vehicle returns to the ground. A controller subsystem converts the sensed information to determine a loft time. A display shows the recorded loft time to a user of the system. In addition, a speed sensor can detect the vehicle's speed for selective display to the user. A power sensing section informs the user of expended energy, which can be compared to other users. A drop distance sensing unit informs the user of the peak height of a jump, during an airtime. Gaming on the internet is facilitated to connect worldwide sport enthusiasts.

Roll-up inflatable beam structure

A sandwich beam including in one example first and second spaced walls, a core configured to maintain a predetermined spacing between the walls when the core is filled with pressurized gas and to resist shear when the beam is loaded in bending and a port for filling the core with gas biasing both walls in tension. The tension tends to increase in the second wall and decrease and cause a compression load in the first wall in response to a sufficiently large applied bending load. A compression element is fixed only with respect to the first wall and is configured (a) to support the compression load so that the beam is stronger at a given gas pressure and (b) to flex sufficiently to allow the beam to be rolled up when the gas is emptied from the core via the port.

Electrically assisted street scooter

An electrically assisted street scooter includes a handlebar, a deck, front and back wheels, a battery pack integral with the deck, an electrical motor for driving at least one of the wheels, and a drive circuit for controlling electrical supply to the electrical motor from the battery pack. The drive circuit includes a switch for setting the drive circuit in a low power-mode where the electrical motor is not powered when the switch is off, or for setting the drive circuit in a drive mode where the electrical motor can be powered when the switch is on. An auto-power on circuit automatically switches the switch on when a user pushes the street scooter. An auto-power off circuit automatically switches the switch off when the scooter is not used during a predetermined duration. The level of electrical assistance is determined based on the peak value after each leg push.

Vehicle, vehicle control device and vehicle control method

A motorized balance board includes a wheel rotation angle detecting sensor, a gyrosensor, and an acceleration sensor. An arithmetic operation unit calculates a rotation angle change value, a rotation angle value, a tilt angle change value, and a tilt angle value, based on signals output from the wheel rotation angle detecting sensor, the gyrosensor, and the acceleration sensor. When the control mode is a riding mode, a control mode switch element switches the control mode to a standby mode based on the rotation angle change value, the rotation angle value, the tilt angle change value, and the tilt angle value.

Snowboards and the like having integrated dynamic light displays related to snowboard motion

Selected patterns of lights are displayed on a recreational conveyance such as a snowboard according to the motion of the board. A selection of patterns is stored in a processor memory, the motion of the board is measured (for example with accelerometers) and a pattern is selected from memory based on the measured motion. Then lights on the board are blinked on and off in the selected pattern. Accelerometer inputs are analyzed and a series of states is derived for each accelerometer axis. A series of states can be analyzed as a set to select a different pattern. Also, the magnitude of the states (such as duration, speed, or intensity) may affect the pattern selected. The process may be adaptive, so that the analyzing step further analyzes user weight or past snowboarding style to set adaptive thresholds for selecting patterns.

Remote Control Electric Powered Skateboard

A remote control electric powered skateboard has a brushless motor or a brushless hub motor installed on the lower surface of the skateboard for connecting to a battery device through a controller, so that the motors could be electrified. A driving device disposed between either afore motors and at least one wheel is controlled by the remote control, thereby permitting an automatic comparison. When the electrification of the remote control executes, the remote control spontaneously generates an initial code for a receiver in the controller to robotically distinguish and lock the code. Turning off the remote control provides an automatic decoding. A receiver receives control signals from the remote control for the controller to interpret, and accordingly the controller generates and sends distinct commands to either motor, which allows the skateboard to implement various actions correspondingly. An auxiliary remote device disposed on the joint between a front support and a plywood is foldable or could stand on the skateboard; the height of the auxiliary remote device is adjustable for meeting divergent demands from dissimilar riders. A remote handle further provides the same operating means as that of the remote control for offering a supplementary supporting function.

Wireless System for Monitoring and Analysis of Skiing

This invention allows for remote monitoring of the skier / skiing performance. The system consists of a various MEMS sensors embedded in skier clothing and equipment. These sensors measure instantaneous changes in acceleration in x / y / z axis and changes in earth magnetic field—relative to the skier position, to provide six degree of freedom in calculation of skier position as well as moments applied to the ski edge and forces experiences by the skier body. These sensors communicate with the monitoring application residing in the user wireless terminal (call phone) over the PAN wireless network. The instantaneous measurements are analyzed either locally or remotely and when the system is configured in an active mode, a corrective response to the MEMS actuators embedded in the ski or ski bindings may be send does changing the parameters of the run or provide enhanced safety.
