Fiber optic drop cable slack storage receptacle

A slack storage receptacle for storing an excess length of a pre-connectorized fiber optic drop cable extending between an optical connection terminal and a network interface device (NID) includes a housing and a storage means disposed within the housing for receiving the drop cable such that the drop cable slack is stored external to the NID. The slack storage receptacle may be secured to an exterior wall of a subscriber premises and the NID mounted thereon. Alternatively, the slack storage receptacle may be positioned around and formed to the NID. Alternatively, the slack storage receptacle may be buried in the ground adjacent the NID. The drop cable slack may be wound onto the storage means after deployment. Alternatively, the slack storage receptacle may be pre-assembled, shipped to the subscriber premises, and the drop cable unwound from the storage means with the drop cable slack remaining wound on the storage means.

Cartridge for holding asymmetric surgical clips

A cartridge is provided for retaining surgical clips, and particularly clips used in surgical ligating procedures that have an asymmetrical profile. The cartridge comprises a base having a base longitudinal axis. A plurality of axially spaced walls extend from the base and are transversely disposed in relation to the base axis. The walls define a plurality of axially spaced compartments therebetween. Each wall has a central wall axis that is generally perpendicular to the base axis. The cartridge further comprises a plurality of clip support members. Each clip support member is disposed within a respective compartment and comprises an asymmetrically shaped cross-section in relation to the central wall axis.

Retractable reel

A retractable reel includes a housing having a front cover and a rear cover, the rear cover including a first opening and the front cover including a second opening, a trough extending radially inward from the second opening to a center of the front cover, the trough including at least one tab and at least one dimple and a resiliently deflectable latch arm. A spool includes a wall that extends axially outward from a front surface of the spool, the spool is rotatably supported within the housing and is positioned such that the front surface, the wall and the front cover cooperatively define a chamber therebetween. The spool further includes at least one ratchet member selectively engaged by the resiliently deflectable latch arm to prevent rotation of the spool in a winding direction. The retractable reel includes a spring having a first end engaging the rear cover and a second end engaging the spool for rotatively biasing the spool in the winding direction. The retractable reel also includes a flexible member having a first portion that passes through the first opening and is spirally wound upon the spool and a second position that passes through the second opening, the second portion having a first section secured to the housing in the trough by the tab and dimple, and a second section is spirally wound within the chamber. The first portion of the flexible member may be selectively unwound from the spool as the second portion of the flexible member is unwound and wound about itself within the chamber or wound upon the spool as the second portion of the flexible member is unwound and wound about itself within the chamber.

Welding wire container with ribbed walls and mating retainer ring

A package for containing and dispensing a coil of welding wire having a coil axis parallel to a package axis, a coil top transverse to the coil axis and radially inner and outer surfaces parallel to the coil axis. The welding wire package includes a container having a bottom and an outer wall structure extending upwardly from the bottom to a top edge, and the outer wall structure has inwardly and outwardly facing surfaces. The package further includes a plurality of ribs extending parallel to the package axis and positioned between the coil outer surface and the inwardly facing surface of the outer wall structure thereby forming gaps between the coil outer surface and the inwardly facing container surface. The welding wire package further including a retainer ring for controlling the dispensing of the welding wire. The retainer ring includes a ring body extending between an inner edge defining an inner opening and an outer peripheral edge, and the outer peripheral edge includes a plurality of projections each extending beyond the outer surface of the wire coil and over a portion of the gaps.
