The invention discloses an inverter topology circuit for suppressing leakage current in a photovoltaic grid-connected system and a control method thereof. The inverter topology circuit comprises a first controlled switch tube S1, a second controlled switch tube S2, a third controlled switch tube S3, a fourth controlled switch tube S4, a fifth controlled switch tube S5, a sixth controlled switch tube S6, a diode D, a power supply U, a capacitor C, a first inductor L1 and a second inductor L2. The inverter topology according to the invention can be seen as a combination of H5 topology and HERIC topology. The topology circuit has advantages of simple structure, high operation efficiency, high reliability and simple utilized modulating method. The inverter topology circuit has advantages of ensuring no influence by current zero-crossing distortion when an inverter operates in a unit power factor, preventing current waveform distortion caused by power grid power fluctuation or operation in a non-unit power factor, improving inverter safety factor and realizing output electric energy quality improvement.
