69 results about "Quality of results" patented technology

Quality of Results (QoR) is a term used in evaluating technological processes. It is generally represented as a vector of components, with the special case of uni-dimensional value as a synthetic measure.

Redundant imaging systems

Imaging arrays typically include thousands or millions of photodetectors that convert sensed light into corresponding electric signals, which are ultimately converted into digital image signals for recording or viewing. One problem with conventional imaging arrays concerns faulty photodetectors, which produce erroneous image signals that ultimately degrade the quality of resulting images. Accordingly, the present inventors devised new imaging arrays including redundant photodetectors to compensate for faulty ones. One exemplary embodiment includes photodetectors that are substantially smaller than conventional photodetectors and that are arranged into two or more groups, with the photodetectors in each group coupled to produce a single group image signal. If the group image signal for a group falls below some threshold level indicative of a defective or malfunctioning photodetector, the group image signal is amplified to compensate for the loss.

Processing of image data supplied to image display apparatus

The technique of the present invention carries out image processing of image data, which are to be supplied to an image display apparatus having a less number of expressible tones than a number of tones included in original image data and a non-linear display characteristic. The procedure of the present invention takes into account the non-linear display characteristic of the image display apparatus and corrects a tone value with regard to each pixel with a look-up table, so as to enhance a tone distribution corresponding to an area of wide intervals of output lightness, while reducing a tone distribution corresponding to an area of narrow intervals of the output lightness. The procedure then carries out a dispersion-type halftoning process for color reduction to convert the corrected tone values to display tone values expressible by the image display apparatus. A plurality of lookup tables is provided corresponding to a plurality of settings for a predetermined condition, such as environmental temperature, affecting the display characteristic of the image display apparatus. The selected lookup table is changeable according to a current setting of the predetermined condition. This technique of the present invention effectively improves the picture quality of resulting displayed images on the image display apparatus.

Method for faster timing closure and better quality of results in IC physical design

A selective IPO procedure based on the concept of a “timing violation potential” prioritizes the components and nets in a critical path. User input criteria is used to select the components or nets (or both) which have the larger “timing violation potential;” only those components and nets are then operated on. After a selective IPO step, the total number of critical paths is reduced, as well as the worst negative slacks (WNS) of the critical path compared to the traditional IPO method.

Techniques for fast area-efficient incremental physical synthesis

A fast technique for circuit optimization in a physical synthesis flow iteratively repeats slew-driven (timerless) buffering and repowering with a changing slew target. Buffers are added as necessary with each iteration to bring the nets in line with the new slew target, but any nets having positive slack from the previous iteration are skipped, and that slack information is cached for future timing analysis. Buffer insertion is iteratively repeated with incrementally decreasing slew until a minimum slew is reached, or when none of the nets have negative slack. Iteratively repeating the timerless buffering and repowering while gradually decreasing the slew constraint in this manner results in a design structure which retains high quality of results with significantly smaller area and wire length, and with only a small computational overhead.

Image edges and texture information can be favorably kept, and the image super-resolution reconstruction method can be used for image identification and target classification.

Layer transfer for large area inorganic foils

Layer transfer approaches are described to take advantage of large area, thin inorganic foils formed onto a porous release layer. In particular, since the inorganic foils can be formed from ceramics and / or crystalline materials that do not bend a large amount, approaches are described to provide for gradual pulling along an edge to separate the foil from a holding surface along a curved surface designed to not excessively bend the foil such that the foil is not substantially damaged in the transfer process. Apparatuses are described to perform the transfer with a rocking motion or with a rotating cylindrical surface. Furthermore, stabilization of porous release layers can improve the qualities of resulting inorganic foils formed on the release layer. In particular, flame treatments can provide improved release layer properties, and the deposition of an interpenetrating stabilization composition can be deposited using CVD to stabilize a porous layer.

Hyper-concurrent multi-scenario optimization

Some embodiments of the present invention provide techniques and systems for performing aggressive and dynamic scenario reduction during different phases of optimization, e.g., during delay, area, leakage and DRC (design rule check) optimization. Specifically, essential scenarios at gates and timing end-points can be identified and then used during the dynamic scenario reduction process. In some embodiments, margin values associated with various constraints can be used to determine the set of essential scenarios to account for constrained objects that are near critical in addition to the constrained objects that are the worst violators. In some embodiments, at any point during the optimization process, only the set of essential scenarios are kept active, thereby substantially reducing runtime and memory requirements without compromising on the quality of results.

Method for Optimizing of Pipeline Structure Placement

Using a computer and storage, a circuit design process is executed to preserve overall design quality while obtaining quality placements for a full class of pipeline structure signatures. These signatures include classic latch to latch pipelines, as well as a variety of latch to latch and mixed logic pipelines. The process employs a method for optimizing pipeline structure placement in a circuit design, by initiating an analysis of pipeline logic structures for correcting poor quality of result (QOR) placements by identifying poor placements caused by placement algorithmic response to degenerate cases and in the process of analysis preserving high quality placements of global placement and timing to preserve preponderant non-degenerate cases in said circuit design. Then employing a plurality of global placement steps, wherein each subsequent placement's quality of result (QOR) is dependent upon the prior placement's quality of result (QOR), circuits are identified as being involved in a class of degenerate cases, and circuits having poor placements are removed by unplacing them from the global placement solution and also other non-degenerate poor quality placements are corrected.

Multi-power grid peak-shaving load distribution method combined with subsection smoothing method and neighborhood search algorithm

The invention belongs to the field of water and electricity dispatching operation, and discloses a multi-power grid peak-shaving load distribution method combined with a subsection smoothing method and a neighborhood search algorithm. By the adoption of the method, the load smoothing requirements of a plurality of provincial level power grids under a large power grid platform can be met, power grid local remaining load 'burrs' can be avoided or reduced as far as possible, and accordingly common peak shaving of the power grids can be achieved. According to the technical scheme, according to the power grid load peak valley trend and the receiving electric quantity, the subsection smoothing method is used for dividing the whole day into a plurality of sections, a plurality of adjacent time period remaining loads in all subsections are homogenized, and thus an ideal solution can be constructed; the difference value quadratic sum and minimum of a calculation solution and the ideal solution are used as a target, the neighborhood search algorithm is used for dynamically changing a feasible search region, so that the convergence rate and the result quality are improved, and therefore the calculation result approaches the ideal solution continuously. By means of the multi-power grid peak-shaving load distribution method, under the condition that the power grid peak-shaving amplitude is not lowered, remaining load curves of the provincial level power grids can be more smoothed, a more reasonable load condition is provided for the stable operation of the power grids, a better peak-shaving effect is achieved, and the method is suitable for dispatching and managing most of regional power grids in China.
