Needleless port and method of manufacturing the same

A septum (1) is held in the cavity of a cover (6) and mounted on a pedestal (7) forming part of a flow channel, and comprises a main body having a through passageway and compression ribs formed in the sides thereof. In the main body, the vertical diameter of the cross section orthogonal to the through passageway is longer than the transverse diameter, and the through passageway includes a vertical diameter direction slit (4) formed in the vicinity of the outer end surface of the main body, and a hole (5) that is formed in a region extending from the slit to the inner end surface of the main body and whose cross section is spindle-shaped having a longer axis extending in the vertical diameter direction. The compression ribs are formed in the opposite sides of the main body in the transverse diameter direction, and the cavity of the cover is of circular cross section whose diameter is shorter than the outer surface spacing between the compression ribs. With the septum mounted, a space is defined between part of the surface of the main body and the inner wall surface of the cover. Further, the hole is closed by a compressive force acting on the septum from the inner wall surface of the cover through the compression ribs. The through passageway in the septum hardly forms a dead space that would cause a residual liquid therein, and the slit in the septum surface hardly opens even at the time of pressurization.

Needle-free medical connector with expandable valve mechanism and method of fluid flow control

A needle-free medical connector includes a housing with a first port and a second port. The connector also includes a piston element defining a fluid passageway between the first and second ports. The piston element is movable between flow and non-flow positions. The piston element has an expandable section having a variable inner width and volume that forms a part of the flow path through the connector. As the piston is compressed to the flow position, the expandable section is expanded in width by movement over a flow post thereby maintaining or increasing the volume of the fluid passageway through the connector. The expandable section has a configuration permitting the continuous flow of fluid through its entirety.

A device for delivering a drug includes a housing; at least one nozzle at a portion of the housing; a source of drug in the housing; and an energy source for providing a pressure of up to about 2,000 psi for driving the drug through the at least one nozzle and out of the housing. Step-by-step friction stir brazing method for thick aluminium plate and rigid dissimilar material

The invention discloses a step-by-step friction stir brazing method for a thick aluminium plate and a rigid dissimilar material. The method can be used for avoiding various problems such as needle abrasion (when a tool with a needle is used), insufficient interface heat, poor mechanical membrane rupture effect and the like existing in the direct friction stir brazing process of the thick aluminium plate and the rigid dissimilar material (such as stainless steel, copper, titanium and steel). The method comprises the following steps of: firstly brazing a thin aluminium plate on the to-be-brazed surface of a rigid dissimilar material through needle-free friction stir brazing, striping by virtue of a metallurgical factor and a mechanical factor, and extruding brazing filler metal, thus realizing a compact joint between the thin aluminium plate and the rigid dissimilar material; and welding the thin aluminium plate brazed on the rigid dissimilar material and a thick aluminium plate through friction stir brazing or friction stir welding, wherein when friction stir brazing is utilized to weld lap joint in the second step, the welding-on area can be obviously enlarged. The process can be used for completely preventing rigid parent metal from abrading a tool; and the interface welding-on of the thin aluminium plate and the dissimilar material is reliable. The method disclosed by the invention can be used for preparing aluminium/stainless steel contact rails and aluminium/copper transition joints.

Embedded stirring and rubbing slit welding method

The invention discloses an embedded stirring and rubbing slit welding method for dissimilar metals, which is especially suitable for large-area lap connection of aluminum or magnesium or harder metal materials. The embedded stirring and rubbing slit welding method comprises the steps of: firstly, processing one or more dovetail grooves on a second harder base material; secondly, assembling according to a lap connection form, and placing an aluminum plate on the upper sides of the dovetail grooves of the second harder base material; using a needle-free stirring head and installing in an inclining manner; starting the stirring head to rotate and enabling the stirring head to be in contact with the upper surface of the aluminum plate, wherein the pressing depth of the stirring head is limited to about between 0.1mm and 2mm and a welding interface needs not to be penetrated; after rubbing and preheating for several seconds at the starting end, moving the rotating stirring head or operating platform so that the aluminum plate is helically extruded in a groove of a lower plate and the welding or cladding is completed. Compared with the resistance slit welding, the method disclosed by the invention has remarkable energy saving advantage. Compared with the traditional stirring rubbing welding, the method disclosed by the invention has the advantages of no keyhole and no abrasion to needles by the harder base material. The method can be used for welding, and can also be used for preparing a bimetal composite plate.
