Color-Coded and Sized Loadable Polymeric Particles for Therapeutic and/or Diagnostic Applications and Methods of Preparing and Using the Same

Polymeric particles are provided for use in therapeutic and / or diagnostic procedures. The particles include poly[bis(trifluoroethoxy) phosphazene] and / or a derivatives thereof which may be present throughout the particles or within an outer coating of the particles. The particles may also include a core having a hydrogel formed from an acrylic-based polymer. Such particles may be provided to a user in specific selected sizes to allow for selective embolization of certain sized blood vessels or localized treatment with an active component agent in specific clinical uses. Particles of the present invention may further be provided as color-coded microspheres or nanospheres to allow ready identification of the sized particles in use. Such color-coded microspheres or nanospheres may further be provided in like color-coded delivery or containment devices to enhance user identification and provide visual confirmation of the use of a specifically desired size of microspheres or nanospheres.

Multifunctional sonic wave therapeutic instrument

The invention discloses a multifunctional sonic wave therapeutic instrument, comprising a host, two or more sonic wave therapeutic heads and one or more pairs of electrode plates, wherein the therapeutic heads and the electrode plates are put on the fourteen meridians, acupuncture point or many parts of the body surface for doing whole treatment or local treatment. The instrument has two functions of sonic wave treatment and bioelectric treatment, which has several purposes and can be shared by several persons; two functions can be acted on the human body at the same time so that the instrument saves the resources and the time, increases the effect and is convenient and practical. Especially the instrument does local or whole treatment on the human body by means of scientifically and orderly arranging the sound source signals of heaven five-element corresponding to the human body into multiple independent or combined acoustic signals via a microcomputer processor (2) according to the yin-yang five-element theory of traditional Chinese medicine science, operating the signals by a control panel (3), and amplifying the acoustic signals via an audio power amplifier circuit (6), and arranging the signals on the corresponding parts of the body surface to treat the human body via a sonic wave therapeutic head (8) according to the sound transmission characteristics of the main and collateral channels.

Treatment of ischemia and reperfusion using leptin antagonist

A method and device for localized treatment of tissues or organs that were exposed to ischemia and reperfusion (IR) injury, in order to reduce their structural damage and loss of function. The method further includes intra-arterial treatment of transplanted tissues or organs, which are exposed to similar damage of IR and are at risk of impaired function. Leptin antagonist is administered as a bolus injection directly into a re-opened artery, which supplies blood to the tissue or organ involved, immediately after reperfusion. In some cases, after administering a bolus injection of leptin antagonist, the effect of leptin antagonist in the involved organ can be prolonged by deploying a double function drug eluting stent, which elutes leptin antagonist into the lumen, e.g., by sustained release, while eluting antiproliferative drug into the vessel wall to prevent local stenosis, which may appear due to stent deployment.

Intensity modulated proton therapy plan optimization for localized plan deficiencies

A method and system for optimizing an IMPT plan are provided, as well as a computer program product for performing, and an arrangement for planning IMPT. For optimizing the IMPT plan, the following steps are performed. An initial IMPT plan is received, along with anatomical image data of the subject to be treated. Critical proton spots are identified in the initial plan using the anatomical image data. At least one local plan deficiency area associated with the identified critical proton spots is generated. A local treatment plan is then generated for the LPDA by applying robust optimization to it. The optimized treatment plan for delivery to the subject to is then generated by combining the local treatment plan with the initial IMPT plan.
