457 results about "Digital photo frame" patented technology

A digital photo frame (also called a digital media frame) is a picture frame that displays digital photos without the need of a computer or printer. The introduction of digital photo frames predates tablet computers, which can serve the same purpose in some situations; however, digital photo frames are generally designed specifically for the stationary, aesthetic display of photographs and therefore usually provide a nicer-looking frame and a power system designed for continuous use.

Digital picture display frame

The present invention provides a picture frame for displaying digital images taken by a digital camera. The invention may be a wall mounted frame or a desk top frame. The invention includes a display, such as an active matrix display for rendering images for viewing. The invention includes an interface for manipulating images by using a graphical user interface in conjunction with an operating system. The present invention may be employed for displaying overhead projection slides for conferences, lectures and meetings. The invention includes sensors for monitoring conditions in areas around the frame. The frame includes floppy disk and CD / DVD drives for transferring data to a memory of the frame. The memory of the frame is used to store images and may select images according to a program or list.

Sending notifications to auxiliary displays

Described is a system and method by which application programs running on a main computer system communicate with an auxiliary display device (such as a cell phone, pocket-sized computer, alarm clock, television, digital picture frame and so forth) to provide viewable information on the device, remote control capabilities, and notifications. Via API calls, programs provide information in the same format regardless of the device capabilities and / or the connection type. An auxiliary display platform converts a notification into a format understood by a device driver, which then filters the notification as desired for its particular hardware device before the notification is communicated. Return communications return data such as status and user interaction with the displayed information. Software vendors may thus write code once to output notifications on auxiliary displays, while hardware manufacturers can have their devices work as auxiliary displays, with little or no modification to existing hardware.

Digital Photo Frame with Power Saving Function and Related Power Saving Method

A digital photo frame having power saving functions includes a display panel, a power generation unit for switching a system power according to a power control signal, a user detection unit installed on the display panel for detecting whether a user exists within a specific range to generate a user detection signal, a central processing unit for adjusting backlight intensity of the display panel when the system power is provided by the power generation unit according to the user detection signal and for generating a power switch-off signal when the backlight intensity of the display panel is turned off according to the user detection signal, and a power control unit for generating the power control signal to switch off the system power when the backlight intensity of the display panel is adjusted to be switched off according to the power switch-off signal.

Systems and methods for multimedia content sharing with removeably coupled headless computing and/or communications nodes

The invention provides, in one aspect, a multimedia content sharing system that includes (i) a shared content server which stores items of content (such as still, moving images and audio) and (ii) a plurality of nodes, each of which is in communications with the shared content server via cellular telephone and / or other data networks. One or more of those nodes can be a headless communications device, such as a modem, that can be removeably coupled with a host for purposes of displaying such items of content. Other nodes can be mobile phones, personal digital assistants, network-enabled digital picture frames, personal computers, with integral or other attendant displays for those items. The shared content server transmits items of content to a first set of the nodes “automatically,” e.g., without requests by users of those nodes for the items. At least one node in that first set displays the content of received items (e.g., on an LCD screen) and accepts user feedback in regard to those items. That feedback—which may be, for example, a command to copy an item into an “album”, to rotate an item on the display, to block another node from displaying the items, and / or to block a sender (or creator) of the item from sending further items of content from presenting—is transmitted back to the shared content server for distribution to other nodes, which alter their own respective displays of the items accordingly.
