An audio / video production system is implemented on a PC-based platform, preferably utilizing various forms of removable magnetic, optical, or magneto-optical storage media. The receiver may determine parameters related to the types of supported data compression and communicate the information to the transmitting device. In some cases, the receiver may then receive a message from the transmitting entity that requests establishment of a data compression configuration. The receiver may respond with confirmation or rejection of the proposed compression configuration. If the configuration is confirmed, the transmitter and receiver may exchange compressed data packets according to the configuration. The devices may exchange status and control information related to the compression configuration (e.g., in a compression header of a compressed message or a separate status and / or control information message).

A method of storing data in a distributed manner based on data compression ratio prediction, and a mass storage device and system using the method are disclosed. The device includes a compression ratio predicting unit, a compressing unit, and a control unit. When an address and first unit sized data are received, the compression ratio predicting unit estimates the predicted compression ratio of the first unit sized data. The compressing unit generates compressed data. The control unit calculates the benefit of compression based on at least the estimated predicted compression ratio, stores the compressed data in a first storage area if the calculated benefit of compression is higher than a predetermined benefit threshold value, and stores the first unit sized data in the second storage area if the calculated benefit of compression is equal to or lower than the predetermined benefit threshold value.

3D wavelet based video codec with human perceptual model

A video encoding/decoding system based on 3D wavelet decomposition and the human perceptual model is implemented. JND is applied in quantizer design to improve the subjective quality of compressed video. The 3D wavelet decomposition helps to remove spatial and temporal redundancy and provides scalability of video quality. In order to conceal the errors that may, occur under bad wireless channel conditions, a slicing method and a joint source channel coding scenario, that combines RCPC with CRC and utilizes the distortion information to allocate convolutional coding rates are proposed. A new subjective quality index based on JND is presented and used to evaluate the overall system performance at different signal to noise rations (SNR) and at different compression ratios. Due to the wide use of arithmetic coding (AC) in data compression, it is considered as a readily available unit in the video codec system for broadcasting. A new scheme for conditional access (CA) sub-system is designed based on the compression graphic property of arithmetic coding. Its performance is analyzed along with its application in a multi-resolution video compression system. This scheme simplifies the conditional access sub-system and provides satisfactory system reliability.

According to the Bluetooth audio self-adaption transmission method disclosed by the invention, the problem of the stop of the Bluetooth audio transmission is largely reduced, and the user experience is improved; the problem that the current Bluetooth audio transmission is interfered to generate stop is solved.
