Heat-sink with large fins-to-air contact area

A heat sink adapted for cooling a heat generating component, operative with an air moving means to generate airflow and remove the generated heat. The heat sink comprises a heat conducting element in thermal contact with the heat generating component, which is also in thermal contact with a plurality of fins having through fin-perforations defining free airflow passages and heat paths so as to spread the generated heat through the perforated fins. The structural configuration and relative spatial disposition of the perforated fins form airflow directing elements for the generated airflow, which flows via an air inlet and through inflow and outflow air passages which are in fluid communication via the fin-perforations, such that the airflow directing elements at least partially block the generated airflow, thus substantially directing all of it to flow via each of the fin-perforations, thereby developing cross-flow only once through the fin-perforations so as to exit via the air outlet.

Drill Rig Moving System

The present invention discloses a drill rig relocation system. Lift frames are provided at opposite ends of a base box of a drill rig substructure. A lift cylinder and bearing mat assembly are rotatably connected beneath the lift frame. The bearing mat assemblies may be rotated to the desired direction for moving the drill rig. The lift cylinders are then expanded, placing the bearing mat assemblies onto the ground and lifting the base boxes and drill rig off the ground. The drill rig is supported on linear sleeve bearings slideably mounted in the bearing mat assemblies. Translation cylinders on the bearing mats expanded to move the rig by translating the linear sleeve bearings along the shafts. After the lift cylinder expands to place the bearing mat on the ground, the translation cylinders are retracted, providing the linear bearing with the full length of the shaft for the next movement.

Method and apparatus for determining the unbalance of a rotating body

An apparatus for determining the unbalance of a rotational body includes a central mounting plate with a mounting fixture on which the rotational body is received, an outer frame, and a plurality of supporting webs that connect the mounting plate to the frame. The webs are configured and arranged so that the mounting plate can pivotally vibrate about a pivot axis, and translationally vibrate in the plane of the mounting plate. A first vibration transducer measures the pivoting vibration and a second vibration transducer measures the translational vibration. The pivot axis remains in the central plane of the mounting plate which coincides with the effective plane of the translational vibration measuring transducer. In this manner, the translational vibration induced by a static unbalance, and the pivoting vibration induced by the moment unbalance are separated and then separately measured, which enables the accurate measurement of both the static unbalance component and the moment unbalance component of a dynamic unbalance. In a method using such an apparatus, all of the forces and moments originating from the rotational body are transmitted directly into and through the dynamometer element itself, without requiring any additional supporting elements.
