Air-tight coffee storage container

A coffee storage container, for storing a quantity of coffee within a jar having a bottom and a side wall, and using a piston having a top and bottom, and a one-way valve. The quantity of coffee is placed in the jar bottom. The piston extends within the jar and defines a storage volume beneath the piston bottom. A stem is selectively attached to the piston top to push the piston downward to allow air to escape through the one-way valve so that the storage volume becomes substantially the coffee volume and little or no air remains within the storage volume. The stem may be removed from the piston for storage.

Pile driver

A pile driver including an apparatus for allowing relative movement between a hammer and a boom of an excavator. The apparatus includes a mounting plate mounted to the boom that interfits with and is slidable with respect to a frame rail mounted to the hammer. In operation, the hammer is placed on top of a pile and, as the pile is driven downwardly, the hammer follows the pile. Owing to the relative movement between the boom of the excavator and the hammer, the hammer follows the pile without requiring continuous downward readjustment of the boom. In one embodiment, the mounting plate assembly does not extend substantially above the hammer frame. In another embodiment, the hammer can rotate with respect to the boom. In one embodiment, the hammer includes a ram, a cylinder for lifting the ram, and rotation-resistant cable connecting the ram and the cylinder.

Binaural hearing system with magnetic control

The invention is aimed at enabling a hearing system, particularly a binaural hearing aid system, to be controlled in an easy manner, taking into account the small amount of installation space available. A hearing system is provided comprising a first hearing device and a second hearing device. The first hearing device has a permanent magnet. The second hearing device has a magnetic field sensor such that the second hearing device is controlled in a predetermined manner when the first hearing device is located in close physical proximity to the second hearing device and consequently the magnetic field sensor detects the magnetic field of the permanent magnet or a corresponding magnetic flux. The sensor signal is used in particular for switching off the second hearing device. The first hearing device preferably possesses a mirrored structure so that it is controlled or switched when it is brought closer to the second hearing device.

Disclosed is a vehicle driver wheelchair lift, the lift having a bearing mount fixed to the vehicle that rotationally captures a pivot rod to which a pair of forks are attached by a parallelogram linkage. The rod rotates in the bearing to move the forks horizontally in and out of the vehicle, while the parallelogram linkage expands and contracts to raise and lower the forks. The purpose of the parallel linkage is to allow the forks to move vertically while maintaining a horizontal position. The forks are adapted to engage a pair of horizontal fork receivers fixed to a wheelchair. A vertical linear actuator expands and contracts the linkage to raise and lower the forks vertically. A motor turns the pivot rod to rotate the forks horizontally. In one exemplary embodiment, a lock on the forks secures the receivers and chair on the forks and a sensor signals when the receivers are in locked position suitable for raising and lowering. In one exemplary embodiment, the parallel linkage has outwardly offset lower joints to establish a preset raised position at maximum extension.

Needle cap assembly for syringe

A safety needle cap for a syringe completely covers the hypodermic needle during non-use or between injections. The needle can be easily exposed with a reduced danger of accidental needle-stick injury. The needle cap can be unlocked from the closed position by being rotated, and then slid backwards onto the syringe barrel by a defined travel distance. Several settings, up to the full extension of the needle, are possible. After use, the needle retracted into the cap, once more preventing needle-stick injury.

Apparatus for and method of fitting a stent-graft or similar device

ActiveUS20090204199A1Easy to separateLength of device can be decreasedStentsSurgeryStent graftingCatheter device
A fitting device (104) for fitting a stent-graft (100) into a lumen of a patient includes a catheter (110), a cannula (112) reciprocably carried in the catheter (110) and a pair of gripper claws (106) in the cannula (112). The gripper claws (106) grip onto a stent (102) at the proximal end (128) of the stent-graft (100) which a suture loop (108) is tied to a stent (102) at an intermediate position along the stent graft (100). The stent-graft (100) can be curved by pulling the end-most stent (102) backwards, that is by retracting the cannula (112) into the catheter (110) while the gripper claws (106) grip onto the stent (102). The proximal end of the stent-graft (100) can also be adjusted position-wise by moving the cannula (112) into and out of the catheter (110). Thus, precise positioning and curving of the stent-graft (100) can be achieved.

Radiation attenuation corridor

A radiation attenuation corridor couples a radiation therapy room and a control room. The radiation attenuation corridor is made of a material that substantially absorbs ionizing radiation and substantially blocks the transmission of the ionizing radiation. Specific wall portions at the entrance of the corridor are covered with borated polyethylene (BPE). Specific wall portions diverge from an axis defined by the corridor by from about 10 degrees to about 45 degrees. The corridor thus leads out of the room and angles laterally across the wall of the therapy room, before angling again and opening to a safe room. The added angles in the radiation corridor increase the distance of radiation travel, and make the path more indirect, thereby increasing the contact of the radiation emissions with the radiation shielding and further attenuating the radiation.

Constant force golf swing training device, methods of training and internet operation

Golf swing training device having constant resistive and rewind forces throughout the swings. An anchor positions a constant force unit, supplies a tether to a special contoured handle and is used indoor or out, preferably at a driving range or golf course. The CFU is preferably hung from a door top by a bracket or anchored to a free-standing pole. Kiosks may be located at driving ranges and golf courses for automated, coin or credit-card operation, or attendant operation, and may be linked to local or remote Internet-enabled computer control and monitoring centers. The use of constant force trains the body to learn perfect planar swing muscle memory by pulling the user into a fully-extended back swing position and to be lead side dominant in the down swing. A "perfect" club swing plane is developed with the force acting at or near the interlock by use of the special handles.

System and method for mechanically fastened information handling system foot

A support foot is mechanically fastened to an information handling system chassis with a coupling device partially embedded in the support foot through injection molding of the support foot over the coupling device. For instance the coupling device is a staple made of ductile metal having a body embedded in the support foot and two legs extending outward towards the chassis side of the support foot. The legs insert in openings at a chassis attachment point and bend to secure the support foot to the chassis. For instance, the staple legs are formed from a ductile metal, such as brass, aluminum or steel, that is bent by hand or by a machine to a closed staple shape.
