Arced Hypodermic Needle

A hypodermic needle for delivering a bolus of a pharmaceutically active agent to the posterior chamber of the eye having a lancet disposed at the distal tip and a lumen disposed along a longitudinal axis within. The lancet may be formed by an angled linear cut coming to a point at the distal tip of the needle, or an arc-shaped cut beginning at the needle tip parallel to the longitudinal axis and gradually arcing upward to roughly perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Additionally, cuts, grooves, channels, or teeth may be added to the surface of the lancet in a regular or irregular pattern for the purpose of increasing surface tension on the drug bolus.

Medicament administration apparatus

An apparatus for removal of premixed drugs or reconstitution of lyophilized drugs and for the injection of the reconstituted drug into the patient. The apparatus includes a syringe assembly and an adapter assembly that can be removably connected to a medicament container containing a premixed drug or lyophilized medicament. The syringe assembly of the apparatus includes a body portion to form a liquid chamber between the forward end of the body portion and the piston and a syringe cannula assembly. The syringe cannula assembly, which can be removably interconnected with the body portion, comprises a cannula support and a hypodermic needle sealably connected to the cannula support. The adapter assembly comprises an adapter preferably molded from a moldable plastic that includes a top wall, an adapter cannula connected to and extending from the top wall and a variety of connectors connected to the top wall for removably interconnecting the adapter with the medicament container. The adapter assembly further includes syringe connector member connected to the top wall for removably interconnecting the syringe with the adapter in a manner to uniquely position the syringe cannula within the lumen of the adapter cannula wherein it is completely shielded from external contamination to prevent print damage and injury to the user.

Huber needle safety enclosure

A safety enclosure which is designed for a hypodermic needle that is located in the shape of an approximate right angle (Huber needle). A safety enclosure has a needle housing within which the Huber needle is mounted. The needle housing is mounted in conjunction with a panel unit. The panel unit is composed of a series of planar panels which are edge connected together defining an enclosed area. The panel unit can be movable from a basically transverse position to an elongated position. When in the transverse position, the panel unit is to be mounted with adhesive tape onto the skin of a patient with the sharp end of the needle being inserted within the body of the patient. When the panel unit is in the elongated position, the needle is withdrawn from the body of the patient and the sharpened end of the needle is covered by the panels thereby preventing undesired needlestick injury to the medical practitioner that is installing and removing the enclosure.

Nanocomposite temperature-sensitive gel and preparation method and application thereof

The invention relates to a nanocomposite temperature-sensitive gel and a preparation method and an application thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: coating antitumor active substances with a high molecular polymer serving as a carrier material to obtain nanoparticles; and adding a temperature-sensitive high molecular material to obtain the nanocomposite temperature-sensitive gel. The preparation method disclosed by the invention is simple and convenient, is suitable for large-scale production, and is particularly suitable for preparing medicaments or diagnostic reagents having the characteristics of long cycle, biodegradability, slow release, passive targeting, active targeting, active substance conveying function and tumor resistance. An antitumor medicament prepared with the method disclosed by the invention is suitable for ways such as intravenous injection, intramuscular injection, hypodermic injection, intradermal injection, intratumor injection, tumor-side injection, oral administration or transdermal medicament delivery and the like, is applied to treatment and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, prostatic cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer, and has a good application prospect.

Gas assisted endoscopic applicator system

An apparatus for mixing and applying a fibrin tissue adhesive and a thrombin activator to target tissue in a laparoscopic procedure as a spray includes a spray set and a regulator module. The spray set includes a pair of elongated tubes of hypodermic stock having a Luer fitting at the proximal ends thereof for attachment to a pair of syringes containing the fibrin solution and the thrombin solution, respectively. The pair of tubes is contained within the lumen of an elongated sheath. A hub at the proximal end of the sheath has a gas inlet port. A gas is delivered to this inlet port by means of a regulator module upon actuation of a footswitch. Upon actuation of the footswitch and simultaneous actuation of the syringe plungers, the two reactive solutions mix only at the distal spray tip and are propelled by the applied gas onto the target tissue. The regulator module also controls venting of insufflation gas from the abdominal cavity to avoid unwanted buildup of pressure as the spray applicator is used.

Method and apparatus for indicating or covering a percutaneous puncture site

Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying and deploying a protective cover about a percutaneous puncture site formed by a hypodermic needle. In the preferred embodiment, a marking agent or puncture site covering, the latter of which preferably takes the form of a bandage, is releasably secured upon either the needle hub of the hypodermic needle or on a sliding member or sleeve axially moveable along the length of said needle that forms a marking or detaches therefrom once compressed about the puncture site.
