Computer system input/output management

The collection of performance data at multiple servers in a SAN and forwarding that data to a centralized server for analysis is disclosed. Remote agents and a central server application collect specific interesting negative event data to enable a picture of the operational health of the SAN to be determined. The agents are placed in servers having HBAs acting as initiators. The agents interact with the HBAs through a driver stack to collect event data. Because of the initiator function they perform, HBAs have visibility to parts of the network that other entities do not have access to, and thus are ideal locations for gathering event data. A SAN diagnostics manager then pulls the collected data from each agent so that a “picture” of the SAN can be developed. In addition to collecting initiator data, the agents also collect errors and performance data from the OS of the servers.

Power Adjustment Based on Completion Times in a Parallel Computing System

A method, apparatus, and program product optimize power consumption in a parallel computing system that includes a plurality of computing nodes by selectively throttling performance of selected nodes to effectively slow down the completion of quicker executing parts of a workload of the computing system when those parts are dependent upon or otherwise associated with the completion of other, slower executing parts of the same workload. Parts of the workload are executed on the computing nodes, including concurrently executing a first part on a first computing node and a second part on a second computing node. The first node is selectively throttled during execution of the first part to decrease power consumption of the first node and conform a completion time of for the first node in completing the first part of the workload with a completion time for the second node in completing the second part.

Method and Arrangement for Operating a Phased Antenna Array

An antenna unit is used in an antenna array. It comprises a measurement signal receiver for receiving and digitizing a measurement signal from an antenna. A time delay unit delays the digitized measurement signal. A data collection receiver receives a data collection frame, and a data collection transmitter is configured to sum the delayed digitized measurement signal with pre-existing data in the received data collection frame and to transmit the so constructed updated data collection frame further.

System and method for video processing

A video program length is changed by processing an MPEG compressed video signal. Two temporally adjacent B-frames are selected, by looking for pairs with small differences. The selected B-frames are combined to create at least one intermediate frame; which is inserted in place of or between the selected frames. Presentation time stamps are altered to provide a uniform display rate.

Electrical power or data distribution system

An electrical power or electronic data distribution system includes a power supply or electronic data module that receives electrical power or electronic data signals from a source, a flat-conductor strip for routing electrical power or electronic data along a generally planar surface such as a floor, wall, room divider, or ceiling, and a power or data output block. The power supply has a pair of power outfeed conductors, and the flat-conductor strip has a pair of generally planar electrical conductors in spaced arrangement, which are electrically coupled to respective power outfeed conductors. The output block has a pair of power-receiving contacts along a lower surface thereof, and an electrical receptacle at the output block, the receptacle being positioned above the lower surface. The power-receiving contacts electrically engage respective planar electrical conductors and convey electrical power to respective contacts of the electrical receptacle, for powering electrical or electronic devices.
