In one aspect of the present invention, a solar energy collection system that includes multiple longitudinally adjacent collectors is described. The collectors are coupled end to end to form a collector row. The collector row extends along a longitudinal axis and is arranged to rotate about a pivot axis to track the sun in at least one dimension. Each collector includes a reflector, one or more solar receivers and a support structure. The support structure includes a tube assembly that underlies the reflector. The tube assemblies of the collector row are arranged end to end along the longitudinal axis. There is a space between the tube assemblies of adjacent collectors in the collector row, where the reflectors of the adjacent collectors extend beyond the underlying tube assemblies to form a substantially continuous reflective surface over the space. A coupling device is positioned in the space between the tube assemblies. The coupling device connects and helps to rotate the tube assemblies of the adjacent collectors. Some embodiments relate to various types of coupling devices and collector arrangements.

A method and apparatus to maximize spark plug life in pre-chamber spark plugs operating with ultra-lean mixtures and / or elevated engine BMEP is presented. Electrode erosion is reduced by spreading discharge energy over a wider surface area, maintaining fuel concentration in the spark gap, controlling gas static pressure during discharge, and maintaining safe electrode temperature. Energy is spread via a swirling effect created by periphery holes in an end cap, resulting in a lower specific energy discharge at the electrodes. Divergently configured electrodes reduce the spark voltage at high operating pressures and the energy required for ignition. The flow field generated at the electrodes prevents electrical shorts due to water condensation and avoids misfire. The center electrode insulation provides an effective heat transfer path to prevent electrode overheating and pre-ignition. The volume behind the electrodes provides a volume for burnt products from previous combustion cycles and leads to more reliable ignition.

The collectors are coupled end to end to form a collector row. Anti-vibration arrangement

The present invention relates to an anti-vibration arrangement (10) for a power sander (1) which comprises a housing (2), a motor (4) arranged in the housing (2), a rotary drive shaft (11), a first outer or ring-shaped pad surface (16) for attaching a first sanding paper (8) and a second inner or circular pad surface (22) for attaching a second sanding paper (9). The anti-vibration arrangement (10) serves to transfer energy from the motor (4) to the pads (16, 22) with out-of-phase motions to dynamically compensate for inertial and friction forces. For this purpose, twin cams (18a, 18b) are fixed on the rotary drive shaft (11). The cams (18a, 18b) rotate the central axes (15, 21) of the pads (16, 22) about the rotary drive shaft axis (12) with a phase differential of typically 180°. Vibration which would otherwise be transmitted to the rotary drive shaft (11) and from there to the operator of the machine (1) are drastically reduced irrespective of whether or not the operator increases the applied force (1) in order to increase the sanding depth or to speed up the sanding operation.

Floating low density concrete barrier

A barrier for small boats has a plurality of flotation modules on lines extending across a waterway. The flotation modules are cast from a buoyant concrete mixture of cement, water, beaded forms of expanded polystyrene, and polypropylene fibers that is non-water-absorbing, crushable, not susceptible to failure in shear, and has a density lighter than water. The mixture can have cement with the beads in a ratio of about 1:3.5 by volume, the water with the cement in a ratio of about 0.5 (1:2) by weight and the fibers with the cement in a ratio of about 1:141 by weight. Lines pass thru the flotation modules and slip upon impact of a flotation module by a speeding boat, and the buoyant concrete mixture crushes to absorb some energy of the impact. The barrier is relatively low cost, can be made next to a waterway from readily available materials by unskilled workers and is deployed in a minimum amount of time.
