Catheter with variable arcuate distal section

ActiveUS20130006238A1Enhanced surface contactGood and more controlled distribution of loadElectrocardiographyCatheterCircular segmentHelix
A catheter includes an elongated body, a distal assembly with a shape-memory member defining a generally circular form, and a control handle adapted to actuate a deflection puller wire for deflecting a portion of the elongated body, and a contraction wire for contracting the generally circular form. The generally circular form which carries at least one ring electrode has an off-edge configuration relative to the elongated body such that a longitudinal axis of the elongated body does not intersect the circumference of the circular form and the generally circular form spirals about the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. Moreover, the circular form can have an on-axis configuration such that the longitudinal axis of the elongated body is axially aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the circular form, or an off-axis configuration such that these axes are axially offset from each other. In a more detailed embodiment, the catheter has a distal assembly with a helical form or a crescent form carrying a plurality of irrigated ablation ring electrodes and a plurality of smaller ring electrodes adapted for impedance recording or PV potential recording. A support member with shape memory extends through the distal assembly to provide the helical or crescent form. The support member has a varying stiffness along its length, for example, a decreasing stiffness toward a distal end of the support member. The support member can also be hollow so that it can receive a mandrel whose stiffness is greater than that of the support member.

Bleed structure for a bleed passage in a gas turbine engine

Bleed structure (17) for a bleed passage in a gas turbine engine. The structure includes a first wall portion (18) defining a first side of an opening for the passage and a second wall portion (19) defining a second side opposite the first side of the opening. The first and second wall portions (18, 19) end at different positions in an extension direction of the opening.

Use of treating elements to facilitate flow in vessels

A method for facilitating the distribution of the flow of one or more streams within a bed vessel is provided. Disposed within the bed vessel are internal materials and structures including multiple operating zones. One type of operating zone can be a processing zone composed of one or more beds of solid processing material. Another type of operating zone can be a treating zone. Treating zones can facilitate the distribution of the one or more streams fed to processing zones. The distribution can facilitate contact between the feed streams and the processing materials contained in the processing zones.

In preferred embodiments, the invention provides a gas filter for a reactive gas used in semiconductor processing tools and processes that are sensitive to molecular contamination. The reactive gas filters of the invention have improved pressure drop and can supply an output gas stream having concentrations of less than about 1 ppbv for both ammonia and sulfur dioxide for an input gas stream with ammonia and sulfur dioxide concentrations, respectively, of no greater than about 10 ppbv and 5 ppbv. In one aspect the invention provides a reactive gas filter with an improved pressure drop that can supply an output gas stream having concentrations of less than about 1 ppbv for both ammonia and sulfur dioxide for an input gas stream with ammonia and sulfur dioxide concentrations, respectively, of no greater than about 10 ppbv and 5 ppbv, using a filter media volume of no greater than about 0.5 litters.
