Real-time focusing in line scan imaging

Systems and methods for capturing a digital image of a slide using an imaging line sensor and a focusing line sensor. In an embodiment, a beam-splitter is optically coupled to an objective lens and configured to receive one or more images of a portion of a sample through the objective lens. The beam-splitter simultaneously provides a first portion of the one or more images to the focusing sensor and a second portion of the one or more images to the imaging sensor. A processor controls the stage and / or objective lens such that each portion of the one or more images is received by the focusing sensor prior to it being received by the imaging sensor. In this manner, a focus of the objective lens can be controlled using data received from the focusing sensor prior to capturing an image of a portion of the sample using the imaging sensor.

Fast transition running shoe

A running shoe design focused on the heel section of running shoes used in, for example, T2 transition phase of the sport of triathlon. A heel counter portion of the shoe is a retractable flap. The flap retracts to an open position at a 45 to 90 degree angle awaiting the unhindered insertion of the runner's foot without any need for the runner to bend or sit. Immediately after the foot is inserted, the flap is closed with a pressing forward action by the athlete's other foot. The flap and the sides of the shoe are coated with adhesive, velcro-like materials. A variation of the foregoing uses a heel counter cut from the center top to the midsole area at the bottom, resulting in an acceptable size opening for uninhibited foot insertion when the flap (or strap) portion of the heel counter is set in the open position.

Radiographic apparatus

A radiographic apparatus removes lag-behind parts from radiation detection signals taken from an FPD as X rays are emitted from an X-ray tube, on an assumption that the lag-behind part included in each X-ray detection signal is due to an impulse response formed of exponential functions, N in number, with different attenuation time constants. The lag-behind parts are removed by using impulse responses corresponding to variations in the sensor temperature of the FPD. X-ray images are created from corrected radiation detection signals with the lag-behind parts removed therefrom.

Radiographic apparatus and radiation detection signal processing method

In a radiographic apparatus according to this invention, when an imaging system scan is performed, a imaging system scanner moves an X-ray tube, which emits a cone-shaped X-ray beam, on one linear track, and an FPD, which detects transmission X-ray images of an object under inspection, on the other linear track synchronously with movement of the X-ray tube. Thus, a non-revolving type imaging system scan is carried out. When an X-ray sectional image reconstruction is performed, a sectional image reconstructing unit reconstructs X-ray sectional image from X-ray detection signals of transmission X-ray images of the object detected by the FPD at different radiographic angles. At this time, a time lag remover uses lag-free X-ray detection signals with lag-behind parts removed from the X-ray detection signals. As a result, the lag-behind parts included in the X-ray detection signals, which would cause a lowering of image quality, are removed in advance of a reconstruction of X-ray sectional images.
