An automated system for monitoring respiratory diseases, such as asthma, provides noninvasive, multimodal monitoring of respiratory signs and symptoms that can include wheeze and cough. Some embodiments employ a mobile device, such as a cell phone, in which raw data from a microphone and an accelerometer are processed, analyzed, and stored. Data can be collected continuously. Time domain and frequency domain analyses of signals to determine, e.g., energy, duration, and spectral content of candidate sounds can be employed to discriminate symptoms of interest from background sounds and to establish significance. Accelerometer signals are analyzed to determine activity levels. Analyses of a user's symptoms and activity level prior to, during, and after an event can provide meaningful determinations of disease severity and predict future respiratory events. The system can provide a summary of data, as well as an alarm when symptom severity reaches a threshold.

Accelerometer derived gyro vibration rectification error compensation

An apparatus compensates for vibration rectification error present in a MEMS gyroscope output signal. The MEMS gyroscope has an axis of rotation normal to an operative plane. The apparatus includes at least one accelerometer situated to generate an acceleration signal indicating acceleration along the axis of rotation. A processor generates a compensation signal based upon the acceleration signal. An output stage amplifies the gyroscope output signal according to the compensation signal. The processor retrieves compensation data from a processor-readable memory according to the acceleration signal. The compensation signal is further based upon the compensation data.

The method is unique and can be implemented easily; and the corresponding device is concise and convenient to install, which can be used for a synchronous conversion equal feeding wrapping and core-spun composite spinning of double-shafting fiber of a ring throstle.

Machine translation system and method

A machine or computer rule-based based translation system and method which translates texts (conveying their meanings) from one natural language to another. The system and method have a modular structure for organizing languages, which in combination with a transitory (indirect) method of translation allows for the creation of a multilingual system that is capable of translations in any direction between any of the included languages. Every linguistic module includes a dictionary of words and phrases, a list of operational functions, and parameters that guide the conversion processes needed to perform a translation from one language to another.

Apparatus and method for detecting an image

In order to detect an image generated by an image source, a mirror arrangement is arranged between the image source and a detector. The mirror arrangement includes two spaced-apart deflection mirrors, which are parallel to each other or form an acute angle of less than 90° between them. In particular when the image source is a scintillator layer, shielding of X-rays from the detector with simultaneous compact dimensioning of the apparatus is achieved in this manner.
