Control device, image forming apparatus, method of controlling image forming apparatus, and recording medium

A control device of the present invention includes: a face position detecting section for detecting a position of a user's face in an image captured by a capturing device; a face recognition processing section for checking a partial image against reference face images, the partial image being at the position detected in the captured image, and extracting a reference face image that matches the face in the partial image; a user authentication section for specifying a user name that corresponds to the extracted reference face image; and a data checking section for (i) checking whether or not a multifunction printer receives print data added with the specified user name, and (ii) if it is confirmed that the multifunction printer receives the print data, operating an image forming section of the multifunction printer to form an image based on the print data. This realizes a control device which (i) authenticates a user in an easy way in which impersonation can be prevented without inconvenient operation, and (ii) prevents another user from accidentally viewing a printed matter.

Compositions and methods for prognosis, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cancers

The present invention provides compositions and methods of using the EPHB2 gene or its related signaling pathways to detect, prognosticate, assess the risk of, prevent, or treat cancers. Cancers amenable to the present invention include, but are not limited to, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and neuroblastoma. In one aspect, the present invention provides compositions which comprise an agent capable of eradicating or alleviating an abnormality in the EPHB2 gene or its related signaling pathways. This abnormality may cause or contribute to the development or progression of cancers. In another aspect, the present invention provides methods comprising detecting an abnormality in the EPHB2 gene or its related signaling pathways. The presence or absence of such an abnormality is indicative of the risk or disease status of cancer in a person of interest.

DNA Conformation

Method of detection or diagnosis of abnormal gene expression in an individual comprising determining in a sample from the individual the presence or absence of a chromosome structure in which two separate regions of the gene have been brought into close proximity, to thereby detect or diagnose whether the individual has abnormal gene expression.

Tau imaging probe

An object of the present invention is to provide a probe for imaging a β-sheet structure protein which can be used for the diagnosis of conformational diseases, particularly disease (tauopathy) having a cardinal symptom such as intracerebral accumulation of tau protein, for example, Alzheimer's disease. Another object of the present invention is to provide a compound which is highly specific to tau and can image tau with satisfactory sensitivity, and also has high brain transition, low or non-recognized bone-seeking properties and low or non-recognized toxicity.According to the present invention, the above problems are solved by providing a compound of a formula I (wherein A, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, Ra and Rb are as defined in the present description) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.

Device for prevention of shunt stenosis

A method and a kit for the prevention of venous stenosis associated with the use of hemodialysis AV shunts. The kit may use a bifurcated needle for providing access to the shunt or blood vessel. One of the arms is used for returning the blood to the subject after dialysis treatment, while the other arm is used for inserting a device for cleaning the vein, the device being either an autonomous crawling device, or a passive tethered device moved down the vein by the blood flow. The autonomous crawling device may be a series of sequentially inflatable chambers, the stenosis being cleared by pressure from the outer walls of the chambers when inflated and moved. The passive device may be an element having a flexible disc-like structure, whose flexible peripheral edge slides along the inner walls of the blood vessel, compressing or clearing the material attached thereto.
