Image capturing card shuffler

InactiveUS6886829B2Improve securitySimplified and inexpensive to manufactureBoard gamesCard gamesPlaying cardBitmap
The present invention features a playing card shuffling device, which through the use of a small image capturing means, captures an image of the face value of each card and stores the image in memory. This image is sorted in the format of a bitmap image. The operator of the machine would be able to recall through the use of a key pad, the images of the cards that comprised the individual hands in the previous game. This feature allows for verification of a winning hand after a game has been completed. Thereby, a quick recheck of hands before paying a winning hand is performed. The face value of each card is determined by character recognition software. These card values would be stored in memory for archival access for use in monitoring the randomness of the game and determining the number of winning hands.

Medical image capture system and method

As patient video images are captured in a lab, they are converted into an uncompressed data set and stored locally on a hospital site server, where they are immediately viewable by diagnosticians in the hospital. The hospital site server generates a plurality of compressed data sets for use by the Internet Data Center. Additionally, the uncompressed data set and a plurality of compressed data sets are stored permanently on a centralized Internet Data Center, from which they can be searched out and displayed by any client device running web-browser software. A client is provided with immediate access to the uncompressed images when pausing and requesting the images of interest from the server. The patient video images are automatically delivered to any authorized Clinical Research Organizations, they are delivered back to the treating hospital when the patient returns for subsequent visits, and are viewable through in-hospital viewing stations over a private high-speed network.

A method and system for transforming an integrated webpage into native text and image representations. A webpage containing an embedded object is loaded into a browser. A portable text representation of an image of the embedded object is captured by invoking the embedded object to rasterize itself. The portable text representation is then streamed to a web server and converted to a native image representation. A URL is generated for the native image representation and the embedded object on the integrated webpage is replaced with its native image representation.

Authentication Device & Related Methods

The invention provides a portable device for input of a Personal Identification Code (PIC). It comprises a card reading component and a touch screen. The screen is arranged and configured to display a pinpad and receive a PIC upon entry by a user via the pinpad. The card reading component and the touch screen are integral to the input device. The device can comprise a mobile phone, which may have a camera. The device can be a handheld card payment terminal for use in fmancial transactions, where a user's PIN must be authenticated. A security mechanism may be used with the device wherein an image of a scrambled keypad is displayed over an operable keypad, this enabling the device to store an encoded version of the user's input. As the user's real PIN is never stored in the device, no bank session key needs to be stored or encrypted. This enables the terminal to be produced at a lower cost than prior art arrangements.

Systems and methods for wirelessly indicating strike/ball to a home plate umpire of a baseball game

Home plate umpire call accuracy can be improved using strike zone images captured by more than one camera deployed at more than one perspective of a home plate during a baseball game. Strike zone images can be analyzed to determine if a thrown pitch is a strike or a ball. A signal can be wirelessly transmitted to a signal indicator worn by the home plate umpire to indicate if the pitch was a strike or a ball in order to assist the umpire in making a call. The sent signal can cause the signal indicator to make different a noise, visual indication (e.g., light), or haptic feedback sensation depending on whether the pitch was a strike or a ball.
