The invention provides a method for providing large
transmission bandwidth for a long-term evolution multi-
carrier system, which comprises the following steps that: a
base station sends data through an aggregation frequency range of the long-term evolution multi-
carrier system; a first
guard band is inserted between effective transmission bandwidths of physical
layers of two adjacent LTE frequency ranges to make the center of the effective transmission bandwidths of the physical
layers of the LTE frequency ranges be on a channel raster; the first
guard band is not available to an LTE terminal; the first
guard band is available to terminals of the long-term evolution multi-
carrier system, and schedules resources of the first guard band for the long-term evolution multi-carrier
system only when the terminals working on the effective transmission bandwidths of the physical
layers of at least two adjacent LTE frequency ranges are the terminals of the long-term evolution multi-carrier
system in a predetermined time slot; and the terminals receive the data on the aggregation frequency range of the long-term evolution multi-carrier
system according to the capacity per se. The method can fully use frequency resources as much as possible on the basis of ensuring
backward compatibility and providing adequate frequency guard band.
