Methods for road safety enhancement using mobile communication device

Methods for road safety enhancement use mobile communication device (MCD) onboard vehicle to share traveling data through inter-vehicle communication broadcasting, perform road hazard warning, enhance road navigation, and provide autonomous road assistance. The methods have a variety of vehicle status data, such as moving data, steering data, or indicator data, obtained through GPS or image capturing and recognition of instrument cluster of vehicle. The image capturing and recognition allows to get speed data from indication of speedometer, indication of left or right turn signal, steering action data corresponding to steering wheel rotation, and light-on indication of system status indicators. To facilitate that, the MCD may be placed in front of steering wheel, and, if applicable, also in coupling with movement of steering wheel. The MCD may perform relative positioning map-matching lane correlation and GPS-update-interval speed positioning to improve data quality regarding vehicle moving status.

Method and Device for Neural Implant Communication

Communications along a neural pathway are provided. The neural pathway is stimulated at a first location, in order to evoke neural responses which propagate along the neural pathway, the neural responses being modulated with data. At a second location spaced apart from the first location along the neural pathway the evoked neural responses are sensed. The sensed neural responses are then demodulated to retrieve the data. The stimulation could comprise peripheral sensory stimulation, and the second location could be at an implanted electrode array.

The present invention relates to digital signal processors with an integrated module configured to compute a Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) in a pipeline. The pipelined module can advantageously complete computation of one CORDIC computation for each clock pulse applied to the CORDIC module, thereby providing a CORDIC computation for each clock pulse. One embodiment advantageously computes a first portion of a computation with a lookup table and a second portion in accordance with a CORDIC algorithm. Advantageously, data in a CORDIC pipeline is automatically advanced in response to read instructions and can be automatically advanced from the beginning of the pipeline to the end of the pipeline to reinitialize the pipeline. This allows information to be retrieved from the CORDIC pipeline with relatively little overhead. The automatic starting and stopping of the CORDIC pipeline advantageously allows the retrieval of computations from efficient pipeline architectures on an as-needed basis.

Magnetic resonance method and apparatus to correct image distortions in diffusion-weighted imaging

In a magnetic resonance (MR) apparatus and an operating method for the apparatus, image distortions are corrected that occur in exposures of diffusion-weighted MR images of an examination subject.A diffusion-weighted image is acquired using a first acquisition process.Another diffusion-weighted reference image is acquired using a second acquisition process that is different than the first acquisition process. The second acquisition process causes significantly smaller eddy current-dependent image distortions than the first acquisition process given the same b-value.Correction parameters to correct the image distortions of the diffusion-weighted image are determined by comparing the diffusion-weighted image with the reference image in order to determine the correction parameters such that the diffusion-weighted image can be converted into the reference image with the aid of the correction parameters.

Beta-TYPE TITANIUM ALLOY

The present invention provides a β-type titanium alloy keeping the content of the relatively expensive β-stabilizing elements such as V or Mo down to a total of 10 mass % or less and reducing the effects of composition segregation of Fe and Cr and thereby able to keep the Young's modulus and density relatively low. The β-type titanium alloy of the present invention comprises, by mass %, when Al: 2 to 5%, 1) Fe: 2 to 4%, Cr: 6.2 to 11%, and V: 4 to 10%, 2) Fe: 2 to 4%, Cr: 5 to 11%, and Mo: 4 to 10%, or 3) Fe: 2 to 4%, Cr: 5.5 to 11%, and Mo+V (total of Mo and V): 4 to 10% in range, and a balance of substantially Ti. These include Zr added in amounts of 1 to 4 mass %. Furthermore, by making the oxygen equivalent Q 0.15 to 0.30 or leaving the alloy in the work hardened state or by applying both, the tensile strength before aging heat treatment can be further increased. Due to this, it is possible to obtain the required strength even if the amount of precipitation of the α phase with the high Young's modulus is small.
