The device furthermore has location means for determining the position of the chain in relation to the track, wherein the location means comprise an identifiable chain element which has an associated identification mark, and also an identification sensor set up along the track to detect each identifiable chain element, wherein the remaining chain elements in the chain are designed as unidentifiable chain elements. The location means furthermore comprise a counting device to count the unidentifiable chain elements which pass along a counting station by the track following the passage of an identifiable chain element. Moreover, the location means furthermore comprise electronic memory means with a memory table in which a memory field is provided for each carrier, wherein the location means record a variable in the memory field representing the number of carriers counted by the counting device since the passage of the identifiable chain element located upstream.

A process and apparatus for removing or reducing the levels of pathogenic bacteria present on an eviscerated carcass. The process includes introducing the eviscerated carcass to a cleaning apparatus. The cleaning apparatus generally includes a housing structure having an entrance and an exit. Disposed within the housing structure is a rotating brush assembly and a spray assembly. The brushing assembly provides brushing and massaging actions to the surfaces of the carcass whereas the spraying assembly simultaneously directs a cleaning solution onto the surfaces of the carcass.

A vehicle game lift adapted for releasable attachment to a trailer hitch mounted on a rear of a vehicle. The game lift is used for suspending a killed animal above a ground surface. The lift includes an inverted “L” shaped post having a vertical post member and a horizontal hoist arm. The hoist arm is attached to a upper portion of the vertical post member. One end of a trailer hitch tongue is adapted for attachment to a trailer hitch. An opposite end of the trailer hitch tongue is attached to a tongue collar. A system and method of counting poultry carcasses conveyed by an overhead shackle conveying system. Poultry carcasses are suspended from shackles of an overhead conveying system and moved along a path of travel defined by the overhead conveying system. The carcasses are directed to engage a force detecting device. The force detecting device generates a signal, such as an electrical signal, when the impacted by a carcass, a magnitude of the electrical signal is proportional to a force of impact of the carcass on the force detecting device. The electrical signal is transmitted to a counter. The counter analyzes the electrical signal and increments a carcass count each time a force in a carcass identifying range is measured.

The game hoist apparatus is attachable to a tow hitch of a pickup truck or similar vehicle. The game hoist can be taken to the site in the bed of the truck and speedily installed in the tow hitch for hanging, cleaning and butchering large game, such as deer. The hoist includes a folding tubular boom of square cross-section, and having a winch, pulleys and a spreader bar for supporting the game animal. A hunter arm includes a bottom bar having a first end adapted for insertion into a trailer hitch of a pickup truck. With the hind legs of a carcass attached to the cables, rotating the handle hoists the carcass and tensions apart the hind legs to facilitate skinning. In an alternative embodiment, the frame comprises three upright members pivotally attached to a cross beam and capable of being positioned on a ground surface in tripod configuration. In both embodiments, provision is made for varying the length of at least one upright member to adjust the hoist to sloping or uneven ground.

A combined hoist and skinning apparatus which is readily assembled and disassembled in the field for use and transportation. An animal to be skinned is raised on the hoist and a skinning assembly is provided at or near the base of the hoist. In order to skin the animal, cuts are made in the skin, which frees a segment of the skin, the end of which is then inserted into the skinning assembly, where it is wound onto a rod. The process is repeated until the animal has been skinned.
