37 results about "Spatial organization" patented technology

Spatial organization can be observed when components of an abiotic or biological group are arranged non-randomly in space. Abiotic patterns, such as the ripple formations in sand dunes or the oscillating wave patterns of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction emerge after thousands of particles interact millions of times. On the other hand, individuals in biological groups may be arranged non-randomly due to selfish behavior, dominance interactions, or cooperative behavior. W. D. Hamilton (1971) proposed that in a non-related "herd" of animals, spatial organization is likely a result of the selfish interests of individuals trying to acquire food or avoid predation. On the other hand, spatial arrangements have also been observed among highly related members of eusocial groups, suggesting that the arrangement of individuals may provide some advantage for the group.

Method for generating and navigating a plurality of menus using a database and a menu template

Menus are created that facilitate access to data in a menu database. Preferably, the menus include a plurality of menus items laid out so as to duplicate the spatial organization of keys on a numeric keypad, such that a one-to-one relationship exists between the keys on the keypad and the menu items. The amount of memory required to store database records relating to individual menus is reduced, because a menu template provides general formatting information. Thus, database records need not include formatting details. When a menu is required, a menu template modifier uses the menu template and the corresponding database record to generate the desired menu. The menus are employed for accessing data in the menu database. An edit function is provided in the menu template modifier to enable custom menus to be developed and modified.

Method for online learning and recognition of visual behaviors

Described is a system for object and behavior recognition which utilizes a collection of modules which, when integrated, can automatically recognize, learn, and adapt to simple and complex visual behaviors. An object recognition module utilizes a cooperative swarm algorithm to classify an object in a domain. A graph-based object representation module is configured to use a graphical model to represent a spatial organization of the object within the domain. Additionally, a reasoning and recognition engine module consists of two sub-modules: a knowledge sub-module and a behavior recognition sub-module. The knowledge sub-module utilizes a Bayesian network, while the behavior recognition sub-module consists of layers of adaptive resonance theory clustering networks and a layer of a sustained temporal order recurrent temporal order network. The described invention has applications in video forensics, data mining, and intelligent video archiving.

Grazing order metrology

Metrology targets, optical systems and methods are provided, which enable metrology measurements of very small features, using resonance of illuminated radiation within periodical structures of the target, under appropriate illumination. Metrology targets comprise periodical structure(s) configured to resonate incident radiation and having a pitch defined by the grating equation with respect to configured parameters such as the selected diffraction order, refractive indices and the illumination's wavelength(s) and incidence angles. Possibly, the target may further comprise substructure(s) which are optically coupled with the resonating incident radiation in the periodical structure(s). The spatial organization of the periodic structures and the substructures, as well as the optical organization of illuminated and scattered radiation provide collecting phase signals from the targets at a range of parameters, such as different wavelengths, spatial angles and polarizations to enhance the metrology signal and achieve a very high sensitivity to very small target features.

One aspect of the disclosed puzzle includes a puzzle frame and a plurality of puzzle pieces. The plurality of puzzle pieces may be associated with a particular color scheme. The particular color scheme associated with the plurality of puzzle pieces may be particularly chosen to force an individual to focus on the spatial characteristics of the puzzle frame and each of the plurality of puzzle pieces during puzzle assembly. This method challenges the way an individual has been trained to typically assemble puzzles, e.g., by requiring that an individual must analyze the shape of one or more puzzle pieces with respect to the corresponding space available within the puzzle frame as opposed to focusing primarily upon an attempt to match the images that are displayed on the front face of each puzzle piece. Accordingly, the disclosure may facilitate the development of enhanced spatial organization skills.

The invention provides a data storage method and device. The data storage method comprises the steps of partitioning data to be stored into multiple data tuples, utilizing the Consistent Hash algorithm for mapping all the data tuples into a virtual circular ring formed through spatial organization of Hash values, and then utilizing the data tuples and the positions, in the virtual circular ring, of predefined virtual nodes corresponding to physical nodes for determining the data tuples which correspond to all the physical nodes respectively, so that data storage is achieved in a mode that information to be stored in the data tuples is stored into the physical nodes corresponding to the data tuples. By means of the data storage method, data migration can be effectively achieved by moving the virtual nodes on the basis of data storage, and the problem that data storage cost is increased when data storage is achieved through capacity expansion is avoided.
