49 results about "Pitch range" patented technology

The pitch range of an instrument is the distance between the lowest and highest tones it can accurately produce. The pitch range of a piano with 88 keys is 7/12 octaves, with middle C vibrating at 256 Hz, the highest note vibrating at 4,186 Hz, and the lowest note A vibrating at 27.5 Hz. Here are some sample pitch ranges of familiar instruments.

Ordered vertically oriented porous inorganic films produced through solution processing

Porous films with straight pores oriented normal to the plane of the films are produced through solution processing techniques. The production takes advantage of inorganic-surfactant or inorganic-polymer co-assembly and a patterned substrate. The patterned substrate, which is also produced via solution phase self-assembly, forces vertical orientation in a hexagonal cylinder system with no practical limits in substrate size or type. This provides a route to vertically oriented inorganic pores with a pitch ranging from 3 nm to over 15 nm and pore sizes ranging from 2 nm to over 12 nm. The size is tuned by choice the choice of organic templating agents and the deposition conditions. The pores can be produced with or without a capping layer which can be used to seal the nanopores.

Decimated Bisectional Pitch Refinement

A method and system for refining an estimated pitch period estimate based on a coarse pitch useful for performing frame loss concealment in an audio decoder as well as for other applications. A normalized correlation at the coarse pitch lag is computed and used as the current best candidate. The normalized correlation is then evaluated at the midpoint of the refinement pitch range on either side of the current best candidate. If the normalized correlation at either midpoint is greater than the current best lag, the midpoint with the maximum correlation is selected as the current best lag. After each iteration, the refinement range is decreased by a factor of two and centered on the current best lag. This bisectional search continues until the pitch has been refined to an acceptable tolerance or until the refinement range has been exhausted. During each step of the bisectional pitch refinement, the signal is decimated to reduce the complexity of computing the normalized correlation.

Dynamically displaying a pitch range

ActiveUS7935880B2Preventing an unintentional deploy of a bonusGearworksMusical toysComputer scienceComputer program
Described are methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer program products, for dynamically displaying a pitch range in a rhythm-action game. In one aspect this is accomplished by a game platform dividing a musical composition into a plurality of portions each comprising one or more notes. Then the game platform determines a pitch range between a highest note and a lowest note for each portion. Then the game platform determines a display density for each portion based on the pitch range of each portion, or alternatively, a display density for the entire song based on the greatest pitch range of all portions. Then, the game platform displays each portion within a viewable area. The viewable area has a density alterable based on the portion to be displayed or a position that is alterable based on the portion to be displayed, or has both an alterable position and alterable pitch density.

Method of defining forbidden pitches for a lithography exposure tool

A method of identifying and defining forbidden pitches or forbidden pitch ranges for a lithographic exposure tool under a given set of exposure conditions is provided. In the method, a computer simulation is performed, and its results are compared to frequently used pitches to see if such frequently used pitches may yield depth-of-focus (DOF) values greater than the focus budget for the exposure tool. If so, a verification test is performed by using a test mask and actually exposing a surface with the same pattern pitches simulated. From this, actual DOF values are obtained and compared to the focus budget of the exposure tool. Any pitches having a DOF value greater than the focus budget are designated as forbidden pitches. This forbidden pitch information may be integrated into a design rule to restrict the use of such forbidden pitches under the given exposure conditions where they are likely to arise.

Rendition style determination apparatus and method

On the basis of performance event information, at least two notes to be sounded in succession or in an overlapping relation to each other are detected, and a tone pitch difference between the detected at least two notes is detected. Tone pitch difference limitation ranges are set in corresponding relation to various rendition styles. Rendition style to be imparted to the notes to be sounded in succession or in an overlapping relation is designated, and a comparison is made between a tone pitch difference limitation range corresponding to the designated rendition style and the detected tone pitch difference, so as determine whether the designated rendition style is applicable or not. In this way, whether the designated rendition style is to be applied or not is automatically controlled in accordance with the tone pitch difference of the at least two notes to be imparted with the rendition style. Further, pitch range limitation ranges are set in corresponding relation to various rendition styles, and the applicability of a designated rendition style is controlled depending on whether or not a tone to be imparted with the designated rendition style is within the pitch range limitation range corresponding to the designated rendition style.

Musical tone generating apparatus and musical tone generating computer program

A plurality of play style dependence tone colors belonging to one kind of musical instrument tone color but being different from one another in terms of play styles are respectively assigned to different values of velocity and note number. For example, play style dependence tone colors such as open soft and open middle of a steel guitar are assigned to tone pitch ranges C2 to B5, and the play style dependence tone colors are respectively assigned to different velocity values. Play style dependence tone colors such as strumming and fret noise of a steel guitar are assigned to tone pitch ranges C6 to G8, and the play style dependence tone colors are respectively assigned to different note number values. By setting the note number and velocity values in note-on event data in various ways, musical tone signals of various play style dependence tone colors are generated even if the program change and bank select data are not changed. This provides shorter processing time needed for switching among tone colors of different play styles, and also the work of editing the performance data or the like including the switching of the tone colors can be performed easily and accurately.
