35 results about "Mark sense" patented technology

Electrographic is a term used for punched-card and page-scanning technology that allowed cards or pages marked with a pencil to be processed or converted into punched cards. The primary developer of electrographic systems was IBM, who used mark sense as a trade name for both the forms and processing system. The term has since come to be used generically for any technology allowing marks made using ordinary writing implements to be processed, encompassing both optical mark recognition and electrographic technology.

Data processing form using a scanning apparatus

This invention is directed to an optical mark sensing device known as a mark read scanner for reading marks on a form. This scanner is a stand-alone device that has an internal micro-controller with the controlling software therein. An external personal computer is not required to operate the scanner in its intended manner. "Graphic switches" are printed on the form to define the characteristics of a form to be scanned. The expense of replacing the internal program of a scanner when a user requests a variation of a test form that had not been pre-programmed into the original specifications of the scanner is eliminated.

Digital patent marking method

A method of patent marking products comprises providing digital data identifying one or more patents related to predetermined products in a patent marking sense, and facilitating access to the digital data such that at least the numbers of the one or more related patents can be ascertained. One disclosed execution involves acquiring or developing a patent-product map which correlates product attributes, identifiers or other product data regarding predetermined products with the numbers of patents which relate to the products in a patent marking sense. The map is made available on a remotely accessible patent marking link such that upon accessing the link, patent marking information concerning the predetermined products can be ascertained. The maps are utilized to provide patent numbers correlated with products. In all more than 20 executions of the invention are disclosed.

Variable-size sensing system and method for redefining size of sensing region thereof

The invention relates to a variable-size sensing system and a method for redefining the size of a sensing region thereof. The sensing system comprises four elements which are connected with each other to form a framework, a mark and two image sensing devices, wherein the lengths of two of the elements are variable to adjust the size of the framework; and the inner edge of the framework is used for defining a parallelogram sensing region. The sensing system has a first using state and a second using state, and the sensing region presents a first size and a second size correspondingly to the first using state and the second using state respectively, wherein the first size is decided internally, the second size is greater than the first size, and the mark is used for marking a fixed length. When the sensing system turns to the second using state from the first using state, the mark sensed by the two image sensing devices can be used for redefining the size of the sensing region.

Image processing apparatus and control method for the same

An image processing apparatus prints a mark-sensing sheet containing a plurality of entry fields. The image processing apparatus reads the mark-sensing sheet, determines a marked entry field entered by a user among the plurality of entry fields of the mark-sensing sheet, and stores information indicating the determined result. When the image processing apparatus rereads the mark-sensing sheet, the image processing apparatus compares the marked entry field entered by the user and information stored in a memory, thereby detecting the marked entry field that the user additionally enters for revision before rereading.

Mark sensing device, turnable body driving device and image forming apparatus

A mark sensing device of the present invention senses marks formed on a turnable body in a preselected periodic pattern in a direction of movement of the turnable body with light emitted from a light source. A slit mask is formed with slits for splitting the light emitted from the light source. A light receiving portion receives the light thus split and then incident on the mark. The slits of the slit mask each belong to either one of two regions one of which is shifted from the other by one-half of the period of the periodic pattern. The light receiving portion receives the light incident on the mark in each of the two regions and converts the light received to two electric signals. A control signal for controlling the amount of movement of the turnable body is produced from the two electric signals.
