The simultaneous taking of water samples from the bottom of a column of water in the bed water above a water bed is of use for scientific investigation of the transition zone between the water bed and the water column lying above the same, for the determination of parameter gradients. Conventional bed water sampling devices with an arrangement of horizontally oriented sample containers at different water levels do not generally permit a non-invasive sampling. According to the invention, said ground water sampling device thus comprises central retainer rod (2) for the sample containers (3), which permanently rotate freely and easily in the bottom currents by means of a flow vane (6). All sample containers (3) comprise sealing devices (16) on both front surfaces (14, 15) and are flushed through with bed water originating from the corresponding level before the sampling. An absorbent member is attached it a flexible liner, and the liner is everted by fluid pressure down the borehole. The everted liner presses the absorbent member against the wall of the borehole. Any chemicals of interest are absorbed into the absorbent member from the media surrounding the borehole. The liner, with associated absorbent member thereon, is then extracted from the borehole. The absorbent member may then be subjected to any suitable laboratory analysis to evaluate the type, spatial distribution, and concentration of chemicals of interest, such as water contaminants occurring in the borehole.

The deep-well groundwater sampling device of the invention is reasonable in structural design; on the one hand,electrically-controlled pneumatic rods and an airbag act together to make the sampling water to keep away from the side wall of a deep well, so the possibility of collision between the sampling watertank and the wall of the deep well is lowered during water sampling; and on the other hand, the airbag and the electronically-controlled pneumatic rods can be contracted when not in use, which facilitates transporting and carrying of the deep-well groundwater sampling device.
