1856 results about "Frequency of use" patented technology

Definition of Frequency of use Frequency of use means the rate of use by the individual as documented by the number of times per day/week/month, as appropriate, a supply is used by the individual.

System and method for continuous stroke word-based text input

The disclosed System enables word-level text entry on a small displayed keyboard by tracing an input path that begins on or near the key of the first letter, passes through or near the key of each letter in sequence, and terminates in the vicinity of the key of the last letter. The input path is processed by scoring it against words in a database that includes an indication of relative frequency. A correctly spelled word is output even when the input path corresponds to an incorrect spelling of a word. Words are ranked according to a score calculated from the weighted distances from each associated key to determined input path points, further weighted by the frequency of use and by other characteristics of the input path. Alternate word choices are presented to the user in a manner to minimize distraction. Efficient editing mechanisms and other enhancements are included.

System and method for continuous stroke word-based text input

The disclosed System enables a small virtual keyboard on a touch-screen to be used to enter a word by contacting the keyboard on or near the key of the first letter, tracing through or near the key of each letter in sequence, and lifting the stylus from the keyboard in the vicinity of the key of the last letter. The input pattern is matched by scoring it against words in a database which includes an indication of relative frequency. A correctly spelled word is matched even when the input pattern corresponds to an incorrect spelling of a word. Words are ranked according to a score calculated from the weighted distances from each associated key to determined input path points, further weighted by the frequency of use and by other characteristics of the input path. Alternate word choices are presented to the user in a manner to minimize distraction.

A system and method for automated dictionary population is provided to facilitate the entry of textual material in dictionaries for enhancing word prediction. The automated dictionary population system is useful in association with a mobile device including at least one dictionary which includes entries. The device receives a communication which is parsed and textual data extracted. The text is compared to the entries of the dictionaries to identify new words. Statistical information for the parsed words, including word usage frequency, recency, or likelihood of use, is generated. Profanities may be processed by identifying profanities, modifying the profanities, and asking the user to provide feedback. Phrases are identified by phrase markers. Lastly, the new words are stored in a supplementary word list as single words or by linking the words of the identified phrases to preserve any phrase relationships. Likewise, the statistical information may be stored.

Determining and displaying a list of most commonly used items

An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.

Base station device and communication method

In order to reduce interference between cells through hopping and use frequencies in a good propagation situation, a scheduler section 102 carries out scheduling for determining to which user data should be sent using CQI from each communication terminal apparatus, selects a user signal to be sent in the next frame and determines in which subcarrier block the data should be sent. An MCS decision section 103 selects a modulation scheme and coding method from the CQI of the selected user signal. A subcarrier block selection section 110 selects a subcarrier block instructed by the scheduler section 102 for each user signal. For the respective subcarrier blocks, FH sequence selection sections 111-1 to 111-n select hopping patterns. A subcarrier mapping section 112 maps the user signal and control data to subcarriers according to the selected hopping pattern.

Method and apparatus for reporting inter-frequency measurement using RACH message in a mobile communication system

A user equipment (UE) is provide which reduces uplink signaling overhead in the process of reporting inter-frequency measurement results over a RACH. For measurement reporting, the UE receives an SIB including a cell information list for non-used frequency cells and a threshold from an RNC, compares signal strengths of signals received from the non-used frequency cells with the threshold, and acquires at least one inter-frequency cell ID indicating at least one non-used frequency cell having signal strength exceeding the threshold from the cell information list. The at least one inter-frequency cell ID is included in a RACH message as measurement result information for the at least one non-used frequency cell, and transmitted to the RNC. The RNC determines that the cell corresponding to the inter-frequency cell ID has signal strength exceeding the threshold.

Interrupting use of frequency layer convergence scheme

The present invention is directed to interrupting use of a frequency layer convergence scheme that favors selection of a cell on a preferred frequency of a joined point-to-multipoint service. Specifically, a mobile terminal that has joined a point-to-multipoint service having a preferred frequency uses a frequency layer convergence scheme for selecting a cell. The frequency layer convergence scheme favors the selection of a cell on the preferred frequency layer. However, use of the frequency layer convergence scheme is interrupted upon an occurrence of a trigger.

Portable terminal, information recommendation method and program

An information acquisition section acquires application halfway information, user preference, updated date and time, real-timeness, usage frequency, usage history, radio wave state, remaining battery level, billing information or other information. A controller calculates recommendation values indicating recommended degrees to recommend the use to a user for each of a plurality of applications and for each of the contents of each of the applications, using the information that the information acquisition section acquired. Then, for example, when a specific button is pressed, the controller gives priorities to the plurality of applications and contents based on the recommendation values, causing the applications and contents to be displayed on a display of a display section 15 in the order of priority. Thus, of the various applications and contents, it makes it possible to select one that is more matched to the user preference and suitable for the terminal usage pattern.

Method and apparatus for increasing virtual storage capacity in on-demand storage systems

A method and apparatus are disclosed for increasing virtual storage capacity in on-demand storage systems. The method utilizes data compression to selectively compress data stored in a storage resource to reduce the utilization of physical storage space whenever such physical resources have been over committed and the demand for physical storage exceeds its availability. In one exemplary embodiment, the utilization of the capacity of a shared storage resource is monitored and data is selected for compression based on the utilization. The compression of the selected data is triggered in response to the monitoring results. In addition, policies and rules are defined that determine which data is selected for compression. For example, the selection of data may be based on one or more of the following: a degree of utilization of said capacity of said shared storage resource, a volume size of said data, an indicator of compressibility of said data, a frequency of use of said data, a manual selection of said data, and a predefined priority of said data. The disclosed methods improve the operation of virtual allocation by further enhancing the availability of physical space through data compression. Virtual allocation and block-based data compression techniques are utilized to improve storage efficiency with a minimal risk to system availability and reliability and with a minimal impact to performance (access time and latency).
