Systems and methods for intelligent information retrieval and delivery in an information management environment

Methods and systems for intelligent information retrieval and delivery in information delivery environments that may be employed in a variety of information management system environments, including those employing high-end streaming servers. The disclosed methods and systems may be implemented to achieve a variety of information delivery goals, including delivery of continuous content in a manner that is free or substantially free of interruptions and hiccups, to enhance the efficient use of information retrieval resources such as buffer / cache memory, and / or to allocate information retrieval resources among simultaneous users, such as during periods of system congestion or overuse.

Enhanced DOCSIS upstream channel changes

Enhanced DOCSIS upstream channel changes. A CMTS directs channel changing of a CM, sometimes between upstream data bursts. Logical channels, part of a single frequency channel, may be used, and the channel changing may be performed between those logical channels. Multiple upstream burst profiles and / or modulation densities may be used providing high degrees of robustness, fidelity, and throughput and allowing great channel flexibility. A CM may be switched between channels without losing transmitter capability. Even if some throughput rate may be sacrificed during the channel changing, the CM will still be able to continue data throughput. Then, the new channel may then undergo the initialization and ranging processes thereby enabling greater throughput on that new channel. After undergoing the initialization and ranging processes, the new channel will then be a fully equivalent member of the CM communication system.

Wireless network system and communication method employing both contention mode and contention-free mode

A network communication system is provided whereby communication stations can obtain priority for data transmission to communicate directly with each other in a contention-free mode communication period independently of a polling operation of the control station. The control station emits a series of beacons at equal intervals to initiate contention-free mode communication at the completion of a predetermined number of beacons. During the maximum contention-free mode communication period a contention-free communication operation is initiated, for allowing contention-free mode transmission, by a polling operation by the control station. A series of time-slots is imaginarily provided at equal intervals from the start of the contention-free period throughout the maximum contention-free period. A communication station conducts a call-connection procedure in order to obtain a priority for data transmission in a given set of time-slots.

Broadcast receiving apparatus and method for displaying notification message using the same

A broadcast receiving apparatus including a display, a storage configured to store priority information corresponding to a current output state of the broadcast receiving apparatus and priority information corresponding to an event, a communicator configured to receive, from an external device, a signal indicating an occurrence of the event at the external device, and a controller configured to, upon the communicator receiving the signal indicating the occurrence of the event at the external device, selectively display a notification message regarding the event on the display, based on the priority information corresponding to the event and the priority information corresponding to the current output state of the broadcast receiving apparatus.

Method and system of dispatching socks traffic using type of service (TOS) field of IP datagrams

The present invention relates to a system and method of dispatching an IP datagram comprising socks traffic on a socks server, in an Internet Protocol (IP) network comprising a plurality of socks servers, the IP datagram comprising an IP header comprising a Type Of Service (TOS) field. The method comprises in a socks dispatcher the steps of retrieving the value of the Type Of Service (TOS) field from the IP header of the IP datagram and selecting a socks server referring to a first table, said first table defining for each value of the TOS field one or a plurality of socks servers. The IP datagram is sent by an IP network device with a given priority. The step of retrieving the value of the Type Of Service (TOS) field is followed by the further step of determining the priority of the IP datagram by referring to a second table, the second table defining a priority for each value of the Type Of Service (TOS) field. The IP datagram comprising data according to a given application level protocol, the step of determining the priority of the IP datagram comprises the further step of determining the application level protocol of data transported in the IP datagram by referring to the second table, the second table defining a priority and an application level protocol for each value of the Type Of Service (TOS) field. In case of congestion in one or a plurality of output queues, the step of determining the priority of the IP datagram is followed by the further steps of discarding in the one or plurality of output queues IP datagrams having the lowest priority until there is no more congestion, and discarding the IP datagram when said IP datagram compared with IP datagrams in said one or plurality of output queues, has the lowest priority.

Method for supporting coexistence in a mobile station

A method for supporting coexistence in a mobile station is provided. The method for supporting coexistence in the mobile station includes, at the mobile station, turning on Bluetooth at a start point of a WiMAX downlink subframe, stopping the operation of the Bluetooth if WiMAX channel quality of the mobile station becomes less than a threshold value during the operation of the Bluetooth, and, at the mobile station, turning off the operation of the Bluetooth at the start point of a WiMAX uplink subframe. Accordingly, it is possible to solve fragmentation by minimizing the interruption of the WiMAX transmission / reception and to improve WiMAX downlink throughput by restricting Bluetooth data transmission / reception according to the WiMAX channel quality.

Intelligent notification of requests for real-time online interaction via real-time communications and/or markup protocols, and related methods, systems, and computer-readable media

Intelligent notification of requests for real-time online interaction, and related methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed. In this regard, in one embodiment, a method for intelligently processing a request for real-time online interaction comprises receiving, by a computing device, a request for real-time online interaction directed to a recipient identifier associated with a recipient device of a recipient and originating from a requestor device of a requestor. The method further comprises determining, by the computing device, an interruption indicator that indicates a recipient activity priority relative to a delivery priority of the request for real-time online interaction. The method additionally comprises delivering a notification of the request for real-time online interaction to the recipient device of the recipient, responsive to the interruption indicator indicating that the delivery priority of the request for real-time online interaction exceeds the recipient activity priority.
