Method for matching geographic information with recorded images

A method for matching a recorded image with geographic data substantially corresponding to a geographic location where the image was recorded, is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, global positioning system data logs are time matched with other data collected, including image data, for the purpose of spatially mapping the collected data. Two important underpinnings of the present invention are that first, the real time of the data acquisition is recorded along with the data acquired; and second, that the offset time between the data logging clock and the world standard time is accurately determined. A primary advantage of the present invention is its wireless functionality; no information transmitters, receivers, special interfaces or power suppliers are required. In addition, a wide variety of off-the-shelf equipment may be used with the present invention as system components.

Multiple RF return pad contact detection system

A multiple RF return pad contact detection system is provided which is adaptive to different physiological characteristics of patients without being susceptible to electrosurgical current interference (e.g., interference or measurement interaction between components of the detection system). The detection system can measure or sense the contact resistance or impedance between the patient and pairs of RF return pads or return electrodes where multiple pairs of RF return pads are utilized due to the high current frequently needed during electrosurgery while eliminating or minimizing the risk of measurement interaction between the RF return pad pairs. The system allows for the independent and simultaneous measurement of the pad contact impedance for each pair of RF return pads. If the impedance of any pad pair is above a predetermined limit, the system turns off or reduces the electrosurgical output of the electrosurgical generator to prevent excess heating. The system eliminates or minimizes interference or measurement interaction between the pad pairs by providing a different signal source frequency for each pad contact pair, but a frequency which matches an associated series resonant network frequency. The current that flows in the series resonant network is a direct reflection or function of the pad impedance of the corresponding pad pair.

Mobile FLOW readout and mobile FLOW sequencer features

An invention regarding traffic management is disclosed. A system that tells motorist how fast to go in order to make it through a traffic signal while it is green serves one or more lanes in one or more directions. A Fast Lane On Warning (FLOW) sequencer is in synchronization with traffic phases sequencer (sequencing Red, Green, Yellow, Left Turn and the like) with both sequencers having service cycle period Pi but with start times of both sequencers offset from one another. The FLOW sequencer outputs data, particularly status of signal or “Signal Phase And Timing: SPAT” through wireless means to a mobile receiver / calculator / readout aboard the approaching vehicle. The receiver / calculator / readout also receives data of its location or whereabouts, particularly its distance to the intersection. The receiver calculator readout processes the two incoming data types considering “distance” and “time left” and gives an output of digital, graphic, audio or the like as to how fast the motorist should go to make it through during green.

Automated entity verification

Some embodiments provide a verification system for automated verification of entities. The verification system automatedly verifies entities using a two part verification campaign. One part verifies that the entity is the true owner of the entity account to be verified. This verification step involves (1) the entity receiving a verification code at the entity account and returning the verification code to the verification system, (2) the entity associating an account that it has registered at a service provider to an account that the verification system has registered at the service provider, (3) both. Another part verifies the entity can respond to communications that are sent to methods of contact that have been previously verified as belonging to the entity. The verification system submits a first communication with a code using a verified method of contact. The verification system then monitors for a second communication to be returned with the code.

Aerodynamically mistuned labyrinth seal

A labyrinth seal having two or more knife edges in which at least one of the knife edges has a varying radial height in the circumferential direction or a cavity formed between adjacent knife edges has a varying axial width so that the leakage flow across the gap will vary around the circumference in order that excess vibrations will not develop in the knife edges and break them. The radial height of the step that forms a gap with the lab teeth varies either sinusoidal or random. An axial spacing between the step and the associated tooth can also vary either sinusoidal or random. To minimize a cavity edge-tone effect, the corners of the steps are rounded.

Segmentation of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images using a memory persistence approach

A method is proposed for identifying an anatomical structure within a spatial-temporal image (i.e. a series of frames captured as respective times). A current frame of spatial-temporal medical image is processed using information from one or more previous and / or subsequent temporal frames, to aid in the segmentation of an object or a region of interest (ROI) in a current frame. The invention is applicable to both two- and three-dimensional spatial-temporal images (i.e., 2D+time or 3D+time), and in particular to cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR images). An initialisation process for this method segments the left ventricle (LV) in a CMR image by a fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering algorithm which employs a circular shape function as part of the definition of the dissimilarity measure.
