73 results about "Thermostatic mixing valve" patented technology

A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is a valve that blends hot water with cold water to ensure constant, safe shower and bath outlet temperatures, preventing scalding. The storage of water at high temperature removes one possible breeding ground for Legionella; the use of a thermostat, rather than a static mixing valve, provides increased safety against scalding, and increased user comfort, because the hot-water temperature remains constant.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A mixing valve receives fluid from a first source and fluid from a second source and outputs a mixture of the fluids. The mixing valve includes a valve body including a first fluid inlet, a first fluid chamber, a second fluid inlet, a second fluid chamber, and a fluid outlet. The mixing valve further comprises a fluid flow regulator mounted within the housing, wherein a lower surface of the fluid flow regulator is disposed within the first fluid chamber and an upper surface of the fluid flow regulator is disposed within the second fluid chamber. The fluid flow regulator is mounted within the valve body in such a way as to permit movement of the fluid flow regulator along a longitudinal axis of the valve body. The fluid flow regulator includes a central hub which extends below the lower surface into the mixing chambr. A temperature-sensing device is mounted to the central hub of the fluid flow regulator and is constructed and arranged for sensing a temperature of fluid which flows from the mixing chamber to the outlet.

Tankless liquid heater using a thermostatic mixing valve

In various aspects, the present application describes a tankless liquid heater receiving liquid at an inlet and providing heated liquid at an outlet. The tankless liquid heater may include a heating element for heating liquid received from the inlet. A flow sensor indicates the flow rate of the liquid received by the heating element. The heater includes a temperature sensor measuring the temperature of liquid exiting the heating element. A controller of the heater regulates the amount of electrical current energizing the heating element responsive to the flow sensor and the temperature sensor, energizes the heating element when the flow rate of the liquid exceeds a predefined value and prevents energizing the heating element when the heated liquid exceeds a predefined temperature. The heater may also include a thermostatic mixing valve for mixing the heated liquid with liquid diverted from the inlet responsive to the temperature of the heated liquid.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) including a low-flow passageway and a high-flow passageway connecting a mixing chamber and a sensing chamber, and a check valve received in the high-flow passageway adapted to open and allow additional flow from the mixing chamber to the sensing chamber upon fluid flow through the valve rising to at least a predetermined high flow rate. The TMV accommodates a wide range of flows yet does not allow excess flow to bypass the sensing chamber which contains a thermal motor of the valve. Even at high flow rates, therefore, the TMV accurately mixes fluid.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) having a mixing chamber with a plurality of pockets defined therein. The mixing chamber receives cold water flow and hot water flow that has been passed through respective flow inlets and mechanically forced into the pockets defined within the chamber due to axial movement of the plunger. As the hot and cold flow moves into and out of the pockets, the flow streams disperse rather than being maintained in separate flow streams toward the thermostatic element. Because of the increased agitation, the thermostatic element is therefore able to sense a more accurate mixed flow temperature even at low flow rates.

Thermostatic mixing valves

A thermostatic mixing valve for hot and cold water has a valve member for controlling the relative proportions of hot and cold water admitted to a mixing chamber according to user selection of a desired water temperature and a thermostat responsive to the mixed water temperature to adjust the position of the valve member to maintain constant the selected water temperature. The valve member is biased by a return spring in the form of a wave spring having a plurality of turns with transverse waves configured such that adjacent turns sit peak to peak. The wave spring is strong in compression and weak in torsion allowing the ends of the spring to move laterally to accommodate any misalignment in the components of the valve.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A thermostatic mixing valve including a cold water bypass passageway controlled by a pressure-operated check valve that opens upon a failure of a hot water supply to the valve. The valve is particularly for use with safety devices, such as eyewash and drench shower stations, and allows the continued delivery of cold water upon a failure of a hot water supply. The lack of hot water causes a cold water valve opening to be closed by a thermal motor, which retracts upon the lack of hot water, yet the bypass passageway is adapted to allow cold water to bypass the thermal motor-controlled cold water valve opening and be directed to the outlet of the valve.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A thermostatic mixing valve 10 including a valve body 11 having a first fluid 12 inlet, a second fluid inlet 13 and a mixed fluid outlet 14, a mixing chamber 16 located between the respective fluid inlets 12,13 and the fluid outlet 14. A thermostatic element 15 is located for exposure to mixed fluid and a piston 17 is arranged for movement within the valve body in response to expansion or contraction of the thermostatic element 15. The piston 17 throttles flow of fluid through the first fluid inlet 12 into the mixing chamber 16 by varying its position relative to a first seat 33, and through the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16 by varying its position relative to a second seat formed as a bore 35 into which the piston 17 can progressively enter. Progression of the piston 17 into the bore 35 initially results in a substantial throttling of the flow of fluid from the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16, while further progression results in engagement between the piston 17 and the second seat 35 to terminate the flow of fluid from the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16.

Thermostatic mixing valve

The invention relates to a thermostatic mixing valve in which the access path of the hot water to the mixing chamber is completely formed within a bottom base (2) and the ceramic disks (4, 5) of the valve group, the slider (8) of the thermostatic member sealingly sliding in a central seat of the upper disk (5). By having the hot water not pass through the metallic members of the valve it is possible to eliminate the problems of asymmetric thermal expansion of said metallic members when only hot water is delivered, and also to greatly reduce the problems of calcareous encrustations since the latter build up with difficulty on the ceramic material. Furthermore, the valve is manufactured with a compact and simplified structure, including a small number of pieces, with totally independent temperature and flow rate controls.

Electromechanical temperature regulation system for providing tempered mix water

A thermostatic mixing valve is used in a tempered water blending system. A cold water bypass line in the system acts under the control of a modulating valve and electronic controller to divert cold water back to a temperature sensing element in the mixing valve. By flooding the temperature sensing element, the mixing valve detects a false temperature and adjusts its flow rate of hot and cold water accordingly. The electronic controller acts in reverse of normal fashion, providing negative feedback to the sensing element of the mixing valve.
