Method and apparatus for efficient meal delivery

InactiveUS20070150375A1Improves conventional meal delivery processSimple processBuying/selling/leasing transactionsLogisticsTemperature controlWeb site
A method and system for accepting order and scheduling delivery of meals to buyers. A Mobile Pickup Station (MPS) server is placed within a computer network and lists a number of participating restaurants on its web site. A buyer logs onto the MPS web site to order food from a participating restaurant. The server passes the order to the participating restaurant for production. An optimal pickup location is selected and the order is picked up from the participating restaurant and is delivered to the pickup location for pickup. A temperature-controlled truck enclosing the buyer order is dispatched to the pickup location. The truck is then stationed at the pickup location for a determined period of time waiting for buyers to pick up their orders.

Game related systems, methods, and articles that combine virtual and physical elements

ActiveUS20090115133A1Transition naturalRestoring stateBoard gamesApparatus for meter-controlled dispensingPlaying cardPhysical element
Physical objects may be employed with a virtual game layout to enhance wager and non-wagered based gaming. Displays subsystems may provide a changeable or selectable virtual game layout with demarcations appropriate to a selected game. A sensor subsystem may detect physical aspects of game related pieces (e.g., playing cards, chips, markers, dice, spinners, tokens, tiles) as well as media (e.g., identity media, financial media). All gaming functions may occur through interaction with a playing surface, as well as functions such as order food, beverages and services. Automated tracking of players, dealers and games may be realized along with bonusing and promotions.

Anti-obesity devices

Method and apparatus for limiting absorption of food products in specific parts of the digestive system is presented. A gastrointestinal implant device is anchored in the stomach and extends beyond the ligament of Treitz. All food exiting the stomach is funneled through the device. The gastrointestinal device includes an anchor for anchoring the device to the stomach and a flexible sleeve to limit absorption of nutrients in the duodenum. The anchor is collapsible for endoscopic delivery and removal.

Method and apparatus for the treatment of obesity

The present invention includes methods and materials for manipulating the sense of satiety developed from the gastrointestinal transit of a substance in a mammal, whether the substance be a food or drug compound. The method involves administering a therapeutically effective amount, by a direct delivery route, of a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation comprising nutrients and pharmacological agents to the mammal's gastrointestinal tract. The present system is designed to maximize satiety feedback from normal intestinal sensors by small amounts of nutrients or nutrient derivatives, in essence, to “fool” body sensors that are not usually in contact with nutrients unless very large amounts are ingested.

Methods and apparatus for performing endoluminal gastroplasty

The present invention provides methods and apparatus for endoluminally performing gastroplasty. In one variation, the apparatus comprises a sizing tube, and a steerable guide that may be reversibly disposed within the sizing tube. In another variation, the sizing tube and steerable guide are integrated into a single device. In one method of utilizing the apparatus, a pouch is endoluminally formed within a patient's stomach, thereby partitioning or reducing the stomach and restricting the flow of food therethrough. The pouch may form a Vertical Banded Gastroplasty or Magenstrasse and Mill in an endoluminal fashion. Advantageously, the sizing tube or steerable guide may be used to properly size the endoluminal pouch.

Interactive virtual character doll

The interactive doll simulates the character of a live person or, in other embodiments a fantasy figure or animal, in essence, simulating a living being that possesses respective human or animal qualities: displaying specific needs, tenderness, intelligence and/or understanding. The doll contains a clock or other timekeeping device and thereby knows of the time of day. It automatically enters a sleep mode at a preset sleep time during which the playtoy remains quiet, and wakens at a preset hour of the day, issuing a verbal statement to let the player know it is time to again play. By issuing a sequence of verbal requests from time to time to the player to take action of various kinds on or with the doll, determines the player's compliance or noncompliance with each such request and issues a verbal message appropriate to such compliance or non-compliance. Some of the verbal requests made are of a kind that occur at a particular time of day in the life of the character being synthesized, such as a request for a food or beverage at breakfast time, lunch time or supper time. And, from time to time at its own initiative, the playtoy may issue verbal messages of affection to the player. That doll is accompanied by external objects that simulate a variety of foods, a beverage, medicine and the like, which the doll is to be applied by the player to the doll pursuant to specific verbal requests from the doll and the doll is able to identify those objects for enhanced interactive play with the player.

Device and Method for Treating Weight Disorders

An apparatus and a method for treating a weight disorder in a subject are provided. The apparatus comprising an implantable device such as an inflatable balloon and electrodes capable of sensing a physiological change associated with food ingestion or hunger and a mechanism adapted for directly stimulating a region such as the duodenum which is responsive to a gastrointestinal satiety agent, such a mechanism can be a drug reservoir containing a drug such as CCK or analogs thereof which is contained within an inflatable balloon being implantable in a stomach of the subject. The apparatus and method provided here combine synergistic approaches to limiting meal size, i.e., chemo and mechano receptor activation of vagal satiety stimuli, electric stimulation of specific vagal pathways and limitations of gastric space.
