Method, apparatus and computer program for contour detection of vessels using x-ray densitometry

A method has been described for deriving contour data in X-Ray images for vessels with differential absorption through applying a contour-finding algorithm on a shadow image and finding the vessel borders through segmentation based on image intensities. In particular, the method uses the following steps: finding a densitometric area of an above mentioned vessel, and displacing one or both of the borders inward until the densitometric measurement result between the borders after such displacing will start to change significantly. Furthermore, a specific procedure is introduced to automatically determine the conversion factor to equate the densitometrically based diameter to the contour based diameter of the vessel and to discriminate bifurcating or parallel vessels.

Systems and methods for constructing an image having an extended depth of field

Systems and methods are provided for constructing a composite image having an extended depth of focus from a plurality of spatially congruent source images of lesser depth of focus. The systems and methods are relatively fast, preserve detail, provide robust results on a variety of unpredictable workpiece features and configurations, and tend to suppress or reduce out-of-focus artifacts. The composite image is constructed by edge and / or boundary analysis to identify well-focused edges or boundaries in the source images. Each particular edge or boundary in the composite image is determined based on the source image containing the best-focused instance of each particular edge or boundary. The composite image is constructed outside of the previously constructed portions by surface analysis to identify well-focused surfaces in the source images, Each particular surface portion in the composite image is determined based on the source image with the best-focused instance of each particular surface portion.

Image processing method and image processing device

The invention aims at separating a background area of an image using a plurality of cameras by utilizing a method of estimating a background in combination with a stereo method. Data on input images, synchronous with one another, which are obtained by photographing images of a subject from different points of sight using at least two cameras is stored in a frame memory. A background area estimation processing unit performs global image superimposition for the input images, synchronous with one another, the data on which is stored in the frame memory on the assumption that a background area is in the distance and has a flat surface. Then, the background area estimation processing unit estimates the background area based on a degree of local similarity. A distance image generation processing unit performs distance measurement with respect to points other than those in the estimated background area by utilizing a stereo method to generate distance images. A background separated image generation processing unit removes the image of an area in a predetermined distance or more from the input images by referring to resulting distance images to generate a background removed image.

Measurement of thin films using fourier amplitude

Thin-film thickness and refractive index are measured using the Fourier amplitude of a broadband interferometric spectrum. Due to the smooth nature of the Fourier amplitude as a function of wavelength, as compared to the fast varying Fourier phase conventionally used to measure thickness, increased stability and repeatability of measurement are achieved. As a result, measurements of ultra-thin films with thickness below 100 nm are possible with reliable results.

Method for tooth surface classification

A method for intraoral imaging obtains a digital image of one or more teeth and detects first and second boundaries. At each of the first and second boundaries, there is calculated a boundary ratio of mean gray-scale values for the tooth area on one side of the boundary to mean gray-scale values for background areas on the other side. The calculated boundary ratios are stored. A third ratio of the mean gray-scale values for the tooth area near the first boundary to the mean gray-scale values for the tooth area near the second boundary is calculated and stored. A vector is formed and stored that contains at least the calculated boundary ratios and the third ratio. The tooth surface is classified as either smooth or occlusal according to the stored vector. The image data is processed according to the classification and processing results are reported.

Deadbolt-activated supplemental lock

A lock system has an elongate channel, a drive bar disposed within the housing, a locking element adapted to be actuated by the drive bar from a retracted position to an extended position; and a linkage connected to the drive bar. The linkage is adapted to be actuated from a first position to a second position by selective contact with a deadbolt disposed external to the elongate channel. Moving the linkage from the first position to the second position actuates the locking element from the retracted position to the extended position.

Methods and systems are presented to analyze a retinal image of an eye and assigns features to known anatomical structures such as retinal layers. One example method includes receiving interferometric image data of an eye. A set of features is identified in the image data. A first subset of identified features is associated with known retinal structures using prior knowledge. A first set of characteristic metrics is determined of the first subset of features. A second set of characteristic metrics is determined of a second subset of features. Using the characteristic metrics of the first and the second sets, the second subset of features is associated with the retinal structures. Another example method includes dividing interferometric image data into patches. The image data in each patch is segmented to identify one or more layer boundaries. The segmentation results from each patch are stitched together into a single segmentation dataset.
