An opening / closing state of a water inlet cover of the water collection pipe is controlled according to the difference of rope descending speeds on parts of different diameters on a reel. A three-legged support is fixed on an observation well, a valve of a water outlet of the water collection pipe is closed, and the water inlet cover of the water collection pipe is covered. The reel is rotated, so that the water collection pipe descends, and when a pointer of a microammeter deflects, a catch bolt is screwed, and then the water level of underground water is obtained; a switch of a battery box is switched off, the catch bolt is loosened, the reel is continuously rotated until the water inlet of the water collection pipe reaches specified depth, the catch bolt is screwed, and the content of dissolved oxygen is recorded; the water inlet cover is opened through a pull rope, and the reel is rotated to take out the water collection pipe after the water collection pipe is full of water. The device has the characteristics of simple operation, high efficiency, energy conservation, high accuracy, low cost and the like. A self-contained apparatus detects the absence of water in a cut plant container and signals an audible alert. The alert sounds periodically until an attendant refills the water. The apparatus is a slender rigid structure that can easily fit inside a narrow vase of cut flowers. The sensor has cavities in its structure to protect the sensor from handling, water damage and contamination. A liquid level transducer for a tank, such as a railroad tank car or the like, includes a mounting head connected to the tank and a sensor assembly extending into the tank from the mounting head.
