Convertible boat seat

A convertible boat seat transforms from a standard bench-style seat configuration capable of accommodating multiple occupants to a lounger that allows a single occupant to comfortably lounge without impeding into the available deck space. A convertible boat seat comprises a chaise lounge type seat having a plurality of configurable components including a two-piece back rest, a configurable armrest, a hinging bench seat assembly, and an inclined chaise end forming a lounge backrest adapted with a pivoting armrest. The two-piece backrest includes first and second backrest components that are each configurable between a raised position and a lowered position. The inclined chaise end includes a pivoting armrest configurable between a stowed, out-of-the-way position, and a deployed position wherein it functions as a lounge armrest. A hinging bench seat includes first and second hingedly connected seat components that are configurable between a generally flat configuration for bench seating and a raised configuration wherein the lounger's knees are supported in a partially bent lounging position. On an opposing end of the inclined chaise end is an armrest configurable between a raised position wherein it functions as an armrest when the seat is configured for bench-style seating, and a lowered position wherein it is stowed generally flush with the bench seat surface for providing increased leg room while lounging.

Hull construction for small watercraft

A personal watercraft includes an improved hull design which reduces drag on the watercraft and inhibits porpoising of the watercraft at high speeds, while providing adequate buoyancy when the watercraft is at rest. The watercraft hull includes a pair of steppers positioned toward the aft end of the watercraft hull. The rear stepper has a greater height than the front stepper. This design reduces the wetted area of the hull when the watercraft is up on plane. The second stepper, however, provides additional surface contact should the watercraft to porpoise in order to stabilize the watercraft. The hull design also includes improved foot steps and adjustable sponsons. The foot steps are sloped upwardly in order to provide greater control of the watercraft when leaning the watercraft in a turn.

Safety seat for a marine craft or other vehicle

A safety seat assembly including a seat or like occupant support structured to maintain an occupant, such as a child or infant, in a predetermined, substantially upright orientation relative to the vehicle during travel thereof. A stabilization assembly includes an orientation portion moveable with the vehicle relative to the occupant support throughout a substantially universal range of orientations so as to compensate for any movement of the vehicle including lateral sway, turning, acceleration, de-acceleration, etc, which would tend to displace the occupant and occupant support from the preferred orientation. In one embodiment, the occupant support includes a floatation assembly as well as a ballast structure, wherein the occupant support is removably mounted on a water craft and is structured to maintain an occupant in an above surface, floating orientation in the water in the event of an emergency.

Shear type quasi zero rigidity vibration isolator and work method thereof

The invention discloses a shear type quasi zero rigidity vibration isolator and a work method thereof. The shear type quasi zero rigidity vibration isolator comprises a supporting base, a positive-rigidity module, a negative-rigidity module and a supporting plate. The positive-rigidity module comprises at least one positive-rigidity unit. The negative-rigidity module comprises a first upper support, a second upper support, a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, a third connecting rod, a fourth connecting rod, a fifth connecting rod, a sixth connecting rod, a seventh connecting rod, an eighth connecting rod, a first lower support, a second lower support, a first horizontal connecting shaft, a second horizontal connecting shaft and at least one horizontal spring. For the defects that an existing linear vibration isolator can difficultly isolate low-frequency vibration and an existing quasi zero rigidity vibration isolator is complex in structure and short in effective stroke, the shear type quasi zero rigidity vibration isolator has high static rigidity and low dynamic stiffness based on the positive and negative rigidity parallel principle, can isolate low-frequency or ultra-low-frequency vibration and is easy to machine and achieve, high in bearing capability and high in reliability.

Seat, suspension, bolster and shell

A vehicle seat, seat shell, suspension, and bolster therefor. Where a bolster is used, the bolster has a positive lock when in an elevated configuration. The suspension includes at least one beam spring that extends across a seat pan. In one preferred embodiment, a pair of such springs is carried by the pan. The springs preferably differ in compliance from one another and from a mesh load supporting grid that is connected to each spring. One such arrangement produces a suspension of progressive construction that enables the seat to handle a wide range of shocks, bumps, jolts, and vibration of varying frequencies and magnitudes. In one preferred embodiment, the seat includes a movable bolster movably attached to either the seat or shell. In a preferred embodiment, the bolster travels along a parabolic path when moved between its down and up positions.

Kayak seat

A height adjustment mechanism is provided for a seat of a kayak whereby to position the seat at a desired elevation above a waterline of the kayak, as determined when on a body of water. The kayak is comprised of a hull section and a deck section provided with an opening to accommodate a user person. The seat is positioned in the opening and secured on an inner wall of the hull section. The adjustment means may be constituted by various mechanisms or elements.
