Automobile seat

An automobile seat is provided with a side impact air bag accommodated within a seat back. To permit prompt burst-out of the side impact air bag precisely at a predetermined position in a predetermined direction without the need for the arrangement of a member different in nature from a surface of the seat back on the surface of the seat back, an air bag module is arranged within a cushion pad of the seat back. Further, the cushion pad is provided, on a surface of a surrounding portion thereof with which the air bag is brought into contact upon spreading, with a guide member which increases breaking strength of the cushion pad and specifies the cushion pad to be broken at a break portion under inflating force of the air bag.

Vehicle seat

A vehicle seat has a back-rest (1) carrying a head-rest (2). A mechanism is provided to move the head-rest (2) forwardly relative to the back-rest (1) in response to a rear impact situation. An element (9) is operatively located between the head-rest (2) and the mechanism (6) which is adapted to yield when exposed to a force in excess of a predetermined force. Thus the force that can be applied by the head-rest (2) to a head (8) of an occupant of the seat, is limited to be a maximum of 200 Newtons, with the preferred value being 100 Newtons.

An office chair includes a seat and a backrest that are pivotally connected together at a pivot axis such that the backrest can pivot with respect to the seat between an upright position and a reclining position. The seat is mounted on a base such that the seat can move with respect to a base, and the seat includes front and rear portions that can pivot with respect to one another. When the backrest is pivoted from the upright position to the reclining position, both of the seat and the pivot axis move forward with respect to said base, and the seat front portion flexes with respect to the seat rear portion such that the angle between said upward faces of said seat front portion and the seat rear portion increases. The backrest may also include an upper portion and a lower portion that can pivot with respect to one another. When the backrest is moved to the recline position, the angle between the forward faces of the upper and lower backrest portions decreases.
