A system and method for connecting control devices for display and computing equipment of in-flight entertainment systems (IFESs) in a physical location independent manner in environments where the control devices cannot be co-located and directly connected to the display/computing equipment, such as on an aircraft or other vehicle having space restrictions. More particularly, the present invention relates to a system and method for enabling the use of improved passenger control units (PCU) including control devices such as pointing devices, keyboards, joysticks, and game controllers, and so on, with interactive in-flight entertainment systems.

A seating arrangement for location at the longitudinal centre line of a commercial passenger vehicle that has a longitudinally extending passenger seating area. The seating arrangement includes a pair of seats disposed alongside and secured to each other. A passenger seat including a seat base for being mounted on a support surface. A seat frame is carried by the seat base, and includes a seat bottom frame member and a seat back frame member is positioned in a fixed angular relation to each other and the seat base. A seat bottom pan is positioned on the seat bottom frame member. A seat back pan is positioned on the seat back frame member. Guide means cooperate with the bottom pan and bottom frame members and the back pan and back frame members, respectively, for unison translational movement of the back pan and the bottom pan between an upright position when the bottom pan is in the aft position and a recline position when the bottom pan is in the forward position.

An aircraft passenger seat position control apparatus is provided. The control apparatus includes a plurality of seat actuators operable to adjust the passenger seat to a selected one of a plurality of discrete seat positions and a touch-sensitive control interface having a plurality of touch-responsive sites thereon corresponding to the plurality of discrete seat positions. The control interface communicates with the plurality of seat actuators and is positioned in proximity to the aircraft passenger seat for use by a passenger seated in the passenger seat. In herringbone seats of the prior art, armrests on the closed angle side form an obstacle for the passengers in the seat in case of a shock, since the latter are generally projected along the axis of the vehicle and thus towards the armrest thus creating a high risk of injury for the passenger in case of a shock. The present invention provides a secure herringbone arrangement for the armrest of a seat i.e. making it possible to reduce the risk of injuries caused by the armrest, in case of a shock. Therefore, the present invention provides to leave a space between the seating part structure and the armrest to enable the passenger on the seat to be projected along the axis of the airplane in case of a shock without hitting the armrest. More precisely, the aim of the invention is a herringbone arrangement for the armrest of a seat wherein the armrest is angularly shifted with respect to the seat, so as to form a free space (33) between the seat and the armrest. The present invention also relates to a seat and a seat assembly provided with such an arrangement.

A unique and versatile seating system for automobiles is provided.
