34 results about "Nasopharyngeal airway" patented technology

In medicine, a nasopharyngeal airway, also known as an NPA, nasal trumpet (because of its flared end), or nose hose, is a type of airway adjunct, is a tube that is designed to be inserted into the nasal passageway to secure an open airway. When a patient becomes unconscious, the muscles in the jaw commonly relax and can allow the tongue to slide back and obstruct the airway. This makes airway management necessary, and an NPA is one of the available tools. The purpose of the flared end is to prevent the device from becoming lost inside the patient's nose.

Dental appliance for improving airflow through nasal-pharyngeal airway

A dental device comprises an intraoral nasal dilator and a mandibular repositioner working synergistically as an anti-snoring device. The device has a lower segment of thermoplastic material which is formed to fit over the lower teeth and is connected to an upper section of molded material extending between the upper jaw and the upper lip by a wire connector. The wire connector has mechanisms allowing adjustment of the lower jaw positioning. A wire extension with acrylic pads at end is bonded in the midline of the flange and extends out so that the pads stretch the tissue of the lip and lateral nasal walls preventing collapse during respiration while the anterior repositioning of the lower jaw maintains opening of the posterior pharyngeal airway during sleep functioning as an anti-snoring device. Additional applications of the intraoral nasal dilator include incorporation into sports mouth guards using a variety of materials.

Apparatus and method for maintaining airway patency and pressure support ventilation

An assembly for modifying patient airflow into a nasopharyngeal airway or trachea. A valve assembly having a valve seal is adapted to attach to an airflow generator. The valve seal is connected to and operable by a motor means. A controller circuit is connected to the motor means for operating the motor means incrementally such that pressurized air from the airflow generator continuously enters the interior feed tube from the inlet but passes out of the outlet only when the motor means causes the valve seal to move in relation to the exit tube to at least partially unblock the outlet such that the pressurized air is converted into a single, repeatable burst exiting the outlet. In one embodiment, instead of a motor, the valve assembly can include a shaft. A butterfly valve seal is attached to the shaft. A nickel titanium wire is in conductive communication with the shaft.

Lateral oxygen supply and sputum suction nasopharyngeal airway

The invention provides a lateral oxygen supply and sputum suction nasopharyngeal airway. The lateral oxygen supply and sputum suction nasopharyngeal airway comprises a nasopharyngeal airway tube, an oxygen supply and sputum suction extending tube and a built-in oxygen supply and sputum suction tube which is arranged inside the nasopharyngeal airway tube, wherein one end of the built-in oxygen supply and sputum suction tube is provided with an outlet of the built-in oxygen supply and sputum suction tube; the other end of the built-in oxygen supply and sputum suction tube is connected with one end of the oxygen supply and sputum suction extending tube through an externally arranged interface of the built-in oxygen supply and sputum suction tube; the other end of the oxygen supply and sputum suction extending tube is connected with one end of an oxygen supply and sputum suction joint; and the tube wall of the nasopharyngeal airway tube is internally wrapped by breaking prevention steel wires. The lateral oxygen supply and sputum suction nasopharyngeal airway has the advantages of having two functions of oxygen supply and sputum suction; ensuring sufficient oxygen supply and good oxygen inhalation effect during the oxygen supply; ensuring sufficient sputum suction, enabling a respiratory tract of a patient not to be stimulated and ensuring that the patient can breathe normally during the sputum suction; and guaranteeing that the nasopharyngeal airway tube is not deformed during insertion and after insertion of the lateral oxygen supply and sputum suction nasopharyngeal airway due to the wrapped breaking prevention steel wires and preventing complications caused by affected ventilation due to the previous pure soft plastic which is easy to break.

Apparatus and method for maintaining airway patency and pressure support ventilation

An assembly for modifying airflow into a nasopharyngeal airway or trachea of a patient. A valve assembly is adapted to attach to an airflow generator, wherein the airflow generator is a continuous blower of a type producing a constant head of pressurized air. One or more drive gears are attached to and powered by a servo motor. A valve seal within the feed tube is connected to and operable by the drive gears, the valve seal adapted to cycle within the feed tube across the outlet. A controller circuit is connected to the servo motor for operating the servo motor incrementally, wherein pressurized air from said airflow generator continuously enters said feed tube from said inlet but travels to said patient only when said servo motor causes said valve seal to move such that said pressurized air is converted into a single, repeatable burst.

Non-invasive intraoral genioglossus myoelectric activity assessment method and system

The invention discloses a non-invasive intraoral genioglossus muscle electromyographic activity evaluation method, comprising the following steps: S1, obtaining the subject's AHI index; S2, for the subject with AHI>15, respectively obtaining the ggEMG signal parameter value and the Pepi signal Parameter value: S3, according to the ggEMG signal parameter value and the Pepi signal parameter value, calculate the unit pressure EMG value R1 in the awake period, the unit pressure EMG value R2 in the early stage of sleep, and the minimum unit pressure EMG value in the N2 phase of apnea R3, N2 phase. Apnea maximum unit pressure EMG value R4, N2 stage nasopharyngeal airway implantation unit pressure EMG value R5, and calculate the mean value and R standard deviation of R1 to R5; S4, according to AHI index and R standard deviation two parameters, the intraoral genioglossus EMG activity of subjects with AHI>15 can be classified, and the functional factors related to the genioglossus muscle can be objectively evaluated in moderate-severe OSA subjects with AHI>15 , which is beneficial to provide an objective basis for the treatment of the cause. The invention also discloses a system for realizing the above evaluation method.
