160 results about "Food particles" patented technology

As amoebas themselves are microscopic, they can only ingest other microscopic food particles, such as algae, bacteria, decaying plant or animal matter and other single cell organisms. Large food particles would be impossible for amoebas to digest.

Intragastric implant devices

An intragastric anchor implant device with an elongate member having proximal and distal ends with atraumatic features disposed thereon is described herein. The atraumatic features inhibit damage to the tissues of the stomach and the gastrointestinal tract and help anchor the device. The elongate member may be substantially rigid to resist bending and engage a tissue of the stomach or gastrointestinal tract to prevent passage therethrough and may include one or more bends to conform to the shape of the tract. The anchor implant device may be coupled with a therapeutic device, such as an intestinal bypass sleeve with a sliding seal, such as an expandable structure, that secures the sleeve to direct a flow of food particles from the stomach therethrough, for use in treating various disorders, including obesity and diabetes. Methods of deploying the anchor implant devices are also disclosed.

Bib with an improved pocket

ActiveUS7269857B2Protect the soilQuickly and easily accomplishedBaby linensEngineeringMaterial Perforation
A barrier against soiling to the wearer, this functional, easy to use bib comprises a body made of washable, flexible, durable and non-porous material with a front and a back. The body includes two semi-circular upper sections that protect the wearer's shoulders from soiling while also securing the bib around the wearer's neck. In fastening these upper sections together, a portion of the bib body arcs outwardly to conform to the wearer's upper body. The lower body of the bib forms into a bowed pocket for catching and retaining food particles and liquid thus shielding the user from soiling. The pocket is formed firstly by folding the lowest portion of the body upwards toward the front of the bib and fastening with corresponding snaps on each side and secondly, by folding the bottom right and left corners of the pocket around to the backside of the bib and fastening to the corresponding snaps on the backside. The pocket unfastens for the purpose of wiping and / or washing once removed from the wearer. The integrity of this pocket to retain liquid and food particles is assured and maintained by the special manner in which it is constructed, folded and fastened; by eliminating any folds within the pocket itself; by eliminating any perforations caused by affixing within said pocket, and by avoiding the use of applied trim along its edges. The resulting bib with an improved pocket prevents soiling to the wearer by catching and retaining a measurable amount of food and liquid debris without leaking and is easy to clean due to the ability to unfasten the pocket.

Mobile biodiesel refinery

This is a computer controlled and automated mobile and / or static process to reclaim used waste fryer oil used for cooking and convert it into biodiesel. The waste, which can contain many contaminants including food particles, and water and emulsified or congealed grease, is forcibly vacuumed into a container and heated. Contaminates are removed by passing the heated fluid via a strainer. Once determined clean by the computer, the fluid travels out of the vessel through the strainer and back into the vessel. Any water settles to the bottom of the heated chamber. As the computer senses the presence of water, it is removed via a drain. The grease is then pumped to a second chamber and treated with a titrated amount of catalyst, as determined by sensors and software. After reaction takes place, glycerin levels are monitored and removed via a strainer, and the fluid is pumped to the next chamber. pH is measured by the computer and balanced. It is processed in a final wash to remove any remaining impurities. The product is tested for standards via sensors and software and then is moved to the delivery tank through a filter. Upon reaching the delivery site, the biodiesel is pumped and measured from the delivery vessel through a final filter to the customer's tank. Unless the computer notices a failure of one of the modular components, the truck is periodically sent to a maintenance facility for replenishment of catalyst and removal of food particles or other contaminates. In the case of failure the driver is immediately notified by the computer, and the truck is directed to the nearest service center. This system is monitored continuously and may be checked via the internet.

Process for dry coating a food particle or encapsulating a frozen liquid particle

A process for dry coating a food particle having a size in the range from about 0.5 mm to about 20.0 mm is disclosed. The resulting coated food particle has a moisture level that is substantially the same as the moisture level of the uncoated food particle. A process for encapsulating a frozen liquid particle having a size in the range from 5 micrometers to 5 millimeters with a liquid coating material is also disclosed. Also disclosed are coated food particles and encapsulate frozen liquid particles made by one of the processes of the invention.

Electrically powered dental flossing device with sanitary and disposable floss containing unit

InactiveUS20100139689A1Convenient and effective flossingAvoid painGum massageDental flossGear wheelRechargeable cell
A device for flossing teeth includes a base unit defining a handle and a disposable head unit that removeably attaches to a top end of the base unit. An electric motor in the base unit, powered by a rechargeable battery, rotates a shaft upon operation of a switch. A pair of hollow tubular arm members extend from a top of the head unit and terminate at opposing open distal ends to define a gap therebetween. A predetermined length of dental floss is partially wound on a first wheel within a clean floss chamber of the head unit and extends through the arm members and across the gap without contacting the distal ends, thereby preventing the transfer of plaque, food particles and bacteria onto exposed surfaces of the arm members. Used floss is wound onto a second floss wheel in a segregated floss collection chamber. The shaft drivingly engages a gear assembly within the head unit for rotating the first and second floss wheels, thereby controlling advanced movement of the floss in order to provide clean floss across the gap, while isolating contaminated floss within the segregated floss collection chamber.
