75 results about "Fire ant" patented technology

Fire ant is the common name for several species of ants in the genus Solenopsis. They are, however, only a minority in the genus, which includes over 200 species of Solenopsis worldwide. Solenopsis are stinging ants and most of their common names reflect this, for example, ginger ants and tropical fire ants. Many species also are called red ants because of their light brown color, though species of ants in many other genera are similarly named for similar reasons. Examples include Myrmica rubra and Pogonomyrmex barbatus.

Poison bait for killing fire ant

The invention relates to a poison bait for exterminating red fire ants, belonging to the field of chemical insecticide, which comprises the components with the following weight percent: insecticide technical product 0.5-1.0%, attractant 40-48%, bait carrier 50-60%, preservative 0.5-1.0%, and the insecticide technical product adopts two components of A and B as assistant components, and attrahent adopts three components of animal albumin powder, edible vegetable oil and flavoring agent as assistant components. The inventive bait formulation mixing insecticide technical product and attrahent is strong in attractive effects, good in palatability, stable in field performance, large in moving load, the medicament in the ant group is evenly transmitted to each grade of the red fire ants, ergates can be killed directly, causing grubs to develop irregularly of die, causing queen ants to be sterile or killing the queen ants. The poison bait is friendly on environment, high in security, which is suitable for comprehensive control on the red fire ants in the field, fruit forest, home, school and the like.

Insecticide organic fertilizer composition, process and method

An insecticide organic fertilizer composition eradicates insects such as imported fire ants (IFA). The insecticide organic fertilizer composition comprises an aqueous homogenized manure extract having an active ingredient, a surfactant, a solvent, and a fatty acid. Active ingredients include botanical insecticides which are subject to degradation after a preselected period of time upon delivery to a soil area. The botanical insecticide is selected from the group consisting of rotenone, pyrethrum, sabadilla (varatrine), neem (azadirachtin), ryania (ryanodine), and mixtures thereof, with rotenone being the preferable botanical insecticide selected. Advantageously, the combination of these components and component amounts renders the botanical insecticide's active ingredients, including rotenone, stable in the aqueous organic manure extract for a predetermined period of time. During this predetermined period of time, the insecticide organic fertilizer composition biologically interferes with IFA's pheromone distress signals. Upon application of the insecticide organic fertilizer composition to an IFA mound, the IFAs began to exhibit a state of sluggishness and gradually begin to die over time rather than relocating, effectuating effective eradication after treatment. In addition, the biotanical insecticide functions to fertilize and nourish soil near the vicinity of the mound.

Naturally Occurring Volatile Attractant

A bait composition for the control of fire ants based on fact that an ant pyrazine attractant contained therein will attract foraging fire ants and the fire ants will be stimulated by the phagostimulant to eat the bait and distribute active ingredients also contained therein throughout the colony. Furthermore, the bait composition can be used directly or modified as a surveillance composition for monitoring and detecting fire ants based on the fact that a pyrazine attractant contained therein will attract foraging fire ants to a trap containing a fast acting, non-repellent insecticide that keeps attracted workers in the trap as a measure of fire ant presence.
