A method for storage and manipulation of storage system metrics incorporates a self-describing format wherein each data file includes a header block that contains the description and order of the periodic data. The header block is followed by a data block in which the data items are presented in the order that they appear in the data description block for that category. Two types of data are managed, including Base Metrics and Derived Metrics. Base Metrics are metrics that appear in the data file sent by an agent. Derived Metrics are computed based on a set of functions that derive new metrics from the base metrics as well as from previously defined derived metrics. A subset of the data block or file describes the configuration of the storage system at the time that the data file was created. Thus the data file contains a header section that in addition to describing the metrics also describes the configuration. A performance view component a user interface that facilitates access to the archives, and data manipulation effecting enhanced performance analysis, workload characterization and capacity planning. The performance view component facilitates generation of factory and user defined views of monitored metrics / parameters. Metrics from a storage system can be correlated using the performance view features, and parameters across machines can be correlated as well. System configuration(s) can be viewed and changed via the performance view user interface.

Method and apparatus for signaling control information of uplink packet data service in mobile communication system

A method and apparatus for transmitting control information relating to an uplink packet data service from a user equipment (UE) to a Node B in a mobile communication system are provided. MAC-es protocol data units (PDUS) including data of an upper layer and a control service data unit (SDU) including control information of a MAC layer are multiplexed and contained in a MAC-e protocol data unit (PDU) transmitted in an uplink from the UE during one transmission period. In a header of the MAC-e PDU, a header part corresponding the control SDU contains a data description indicator (DDI) field set as a specific value representing that the control information is transmitted, and a header part corresponding to the MAC-es PDU contains a DDI field which represents a MAC-e flow and a logical channel relating to uplink packet data included in the second PDU, and a data size. Node B detects the control information from the control SDU based on the DDI field set as the specific value. Since the header part representing the control information has a structure similar to the header part representing the MAC-es PDU, the structure of the header is simplified, and the header size of the packet is minimized.

Method and apparatus for determining and analyzing a location of visual interest

A method of analyzing data based on the physiological orientation of a driver is provided. Data is descriptive of a driver's gaze-direction is processing and criteria defining a location of driver interest is determined. Based on the determined criteria, gaze-direction instances are classified as either on-location or off-location. The classified instances can then be used for further analysis, generally relating to times of elevated driver workload and not driver drowsiness. The classified instances are transformed into one of two binary values (e.g., 1 and 0) representative of whether the respective classified instance is on or off location. The uses of a binary value makes processing and analysis of the data faster and more efficient. Furthermore, classification of at least some of the off-location gaze direction instances can be inferred from the failure to meet the determined criteria for being classified as an on-location driver gaze direction instance.

The present invention relates to exchanging data between software components in a distributed software system comprising a first software component and a second software component. A first data exchange metadata description is provided that contains information on data structures used in a serialized data exchange by the first software component. A dedicated second data exchange metadata description is provided for each older version of the second software component, each second data exchange metadata description containing information on data structures to be used in a serialized data exchange by the second software component. As a consequence, the first software component having a newer version is able to exchange data with any of the older second software components by using the respective data exchange metadata in data serialization and deserialization.

Abstract syntax notation to interface definition language converter framework for network management

A system and method for managing network devices. The framework may provide a suitable system for managed object data type conversions between various data description languages, such as an interface definition language (e.g., OMG IDL) and an abstract syntax notation (e.g., ASN1). This conversion facility may be used in both request and event network traffic, so common libraries may be used. Two separate libraries may be used: a converter framework library and a converter implementation library. The framework library provides a collection classes that may be used by the clients of the converter libraries. Most classes in the converter framework library are handle classes (or wrappers) to the real implementation (or body) classes in the converter implementation library. Framework classes hide the details of the real implementation classes and provide a simple, consistent interface to any data type converter via IDL. The converter implementation library provides the implementation needed by the framework to function properly, and may allow various different mappings to be used easily by implementing them as plug-in modules. The combination of using IDL and generic typing provides an efficient, generic solution to mapping data types across multiple platforms, multiple programming languages, and multiple object classes.

Said third and said fourth set of data is associated with said second object, and said third set of data describes said second object, and said fourth set of data describes a fourth object. It also includes a transmitter. Said transmitter is adapted to send a first subset of said first and said second set of data, respectively, to said remote data processing apparatus. Finally, the data processing apparatus comprises a processor. The processor is adapted to perform correlation analysis between said first subsets of said first and said fourth set of data, respectively, to obtain a first value of correlation between said first and said second object. The processor is further adapted to perform correlation analysis between said first subsets of said second and said third set of data, respectively, to obtain a second value of correlation between said first and said second object.

The second operation data specifies a data element included in said first results. The second results is dependent upon said first results.
