Finite-difference simulation and visualization of elastodynamics in time-evolving generalized curvilinear coordinates

Modeling and simulation of free and forced structural vibrations is essential to an overall structural health monitoring capability. In the various embodiments, a first principles finite-difference approach is adopted in modeling a structural subsystem such as a mechanical gear by solving elastodynamic equations in generalized curvilinear coordinates. Such a capability to generate a dynamic structural response is widely applicable in a variety of structural health monitoring systems. This capability (1) will lead to an understanding of the dynamic behavior of a structural system and hence its improved design, (2) will generate a sufficiently large space of normal and damage solutions that can be used by machine learning algorithms to detect anomalous system behavior and achieve a system design optimization and (3) will lead to an optimal sensor placement strategy, based on the identification of local stress maxima all over the domain.

Collapsible batting cage

A collapsible batting cage having a support base (e.g., a front end, a back end and opposite sides) and a support frame to which a protective netting is attached. The support frame includes a plurality of U-shaped frame members that are pivotally connected to the support base so as to be rotatable relative thereto between a collapsed position, when the batting cage is not in use, to a raised position, when the batting cage is in use. A cable that is tied to the plurality of U-shaped frame members receives a pulling force from a winch for causing the U-shaped frame members to rotate from the collapsed position, where the protective netting is folded at an inconspicuous location within the support base, to the raised position, where the netting will hang above the support base. With the U-shaped frame members of the support frame rotated to the raised position and the netting hanging downwardly therefrom, the batting cage will provide a confined enclosure within which sports (e.g., baseball, golf, soccer, football, etc.) can be practiced without subjecting onlookers and property to the risk of injury or damage.

Method of generating color separation data and image processing apparatus

In a process of generating color separation data, if printing is performed with use of a particular color printing material in addition to basic printing material, the process can effectively use a gamut area which can be enlarged with use of the particular color printing material. Specifically, the process calculates a granularity for each equal-lightness line. For each of such equal-lightness lines, color separation data is obtained which relates to the mixture ratio of the yellow ink to the light magenta ink corresponding to the best granularity. Then, data on lattice points corresponding to the equal-lightness line is changed with the obtained color separation data on the mixture ratio of the yellow ink to the light magenta ink which corresponds to the best granularity. Such obtained color separation data allows the yellow and light magenta inks and the particular color ink red to be used in a low saturation part.

Voltage selection apparatus and voltage selection method

A voltage selection apparatus and a voltage selection method applied in a driving circuit of a liquid crystal display are disclosed. The voltage selection apparatus includes a generating module, a selection module, and a setting module. The generating module generates a first curve, a second curve, and a third curve corresponding to gamma curves of R pixel, G pixel, and B pixel of the liquid crystal display under different divided voltages respectively. The selection module selects at least two common curves from the first curve, the second curve, and the third curve, and the at least two common curves have a shared region corresponding to a common divided voltage range. The setting module sets at least two pixels corresponding to the at least two common curves to use a voltage dividing resistor string in the common divided voltage range to provide voltage dividing points.

Method and Apparatus for a Self-Cleaning Filter

InactiveUS20070017859A1Not involve and minimize dependenceGentle and efficient mannerCombination devicesWater cleaningDifferential pressureFilter media
A method and apparatus for removing fine particulate matter from a fluid stream without interrupting the overall process or flow. The flowing fluid inflates and expands the flexible filter, and particulate is deposited on the filter media while clean fluid is permitted to pass through the filter. This filter is cleaned when the fluid flow is stopped, the filter collapses, and a force is applied to distort the flexible filter media to dislodge the built-up filter cake. The dislodged filter cake falls to a location that allows undisrupted flow of the fluid after flow is restored. The shed particulate is removed to a bin for periodic collection. A plurality of filter cells can operate independently or in concert, in parallel, or in series to permit cleaning the filters without shutting off the overall fluid flow. The self-cleaning filter is low cost, has low power consumption, and exhibits low differential pressures.
