Instructional game program and method

An instructional game for transferring compliance knowledge to practice for mandatory or rule-based equipment procedure and task requirements. One exemplary embodiment of the invention utilizes a game architecture developed around a morphological field analysis of parameters that can influence compliance adherence. The process of designating parameters and defining relationships between the values of the parameters on the basis of internal consistency (standards and cognitive constructs) and cause and effect or causes that affect (performance / normative standards) supported through machine processing serves as the core structure of the game. This structure is used to generate in-game object and path determination, strategies and scenarios for development, post game performance assessment, probable non-compliant analysis and multiple play service provision, useful for communicating protection and prevention information.

Radio controlled flying toy object device with an infra-red gun

InactiveUS20110003526A1Facilitates radio controllable controlAvoid hittingToy aircraftsRemote-control toysInfraredFlapping wing
A radio controlled flying toy device having a duck-shaped flying object, a RC controller and an IR beam gun is provided wherein the controller and gun are respectively operated by a first and second user. Both the beam gun and RC controller can charge the flying object. The flying object has a pair of flapping wings whose speed and directional characteristics are controlled by the RC controller. The IR beam gun sequentially loads and fires IR beam radiations towards the duck object. The gun is specifically adapted to hit the duck with the IR beam, whereas the RC controller is specifically adapted to prevent the duck from being hit by the IR beam. The duck object includes a controller unit / micro controller that is configured to allow the duck to fly after being shot for two successive occasions by the gun and fall after being shot for the third successive occasion.

Wideband Resonant Reflectors with Zero-Contrast Gratings

Disclosed is a new class of wideband reflectors that are relatively insensitive to deviations from the design parameters. The reflectors are materially sparse while providing high reflectance across wide spectral bands. In some embodiments, a device comprises a substrate and a grating layer disposed on the substrate, wherein the grating layer comprises a periodic grating structure and a sublayer beneath the grating structure and adjacent to the substrate, the grating layer and the sublayer having the same index of refraction. These compact, low-loss elements complement conventional thin-film reflectors while possessing properties not available in thin-film multilayer stacks. The reflectors are based on a fundamental resonance effect, the guided-mode resonance effect, that occurs in periodic structures. Disclosed herein are both one-dimensional and two-dimensional reflectors m zero-contrast embodiments. The disclosed reflectors can be used in various electromagnetic spectral regions for various useful applications.

Method of determining volume dependent hypertension via reduction in phosphorylation

A method of determining the presence of chronic volume dependent hypertension is provided wherein a determination is made as to whether there has been a substantial reduction in phosphorylation of the blood-derived protein or renal proximal brush border membrane protein and if such reduction exists concluding that chronic volume dependent hypertension exists in a patient. The method may advantageously be practiced by employing blood serum or blood plasma as the body specimen containing the protein in determining whether a patient has chronic volume dependent hypertension, a cellular component of the blood, such as a blood-derived protein coming from the plasma membrane of lymphocytes. The method may include subsequent therapeutic patient treatment. Related diagnostic apparatus is also provided.

Great putting game

InactiveUS20040219986A1Improving a player's putting skillsAccurate and practicalGolfing accessoriesEngineeringGolf Ball
A method for playing a putting game on a golf green surface is disclosed. Each player is provided a like plurality of golf balls, each ball having a unique feature for association with one player. In each round, all balls are placed on the circumference of a circle of a selected radius, with the cup at the circle center. Each player putts the balls having that player's associated unique feature until each ball enters the cup or each ball is putted twice. All balls failing to enter the cup in two putts are removed from play after the second putt. A score value is provided to each player for each ball remaining in play at the end of the round. In each subsequent round, the above steps are repeated with each circle radius greater than the prior circle radius, until all balls are out of play. The score value for each player is totaled to determine a winner.
