System and method for creation, distribution and tracking of advertising via electronic networks

ActiveUS20070265923A1Optimize benefitGood benefitAdvertisementsNetizenThird party
A system and method for creation, distribution and tracking of advertising via electronic networks, enabling creation of advertisements using licensed third party content and placement of said ads at desired network locations, utilizing an auction of ad spaces based on bids placed by advertisers to have their ads displayed at such locations. When a network user / ad viewer requests an ad by clicking or other action, an auction algorithm executes to select the ad to be displayed from those that bid for display at such ad space location and then the ad is composed and delivered to the ad space location by accessing a relational database storing commands that retrieve, assemble and dispatch the licensed ad content. Usage and display of licensed content on designated ad space is tracked to enable cost-per-use charging for both use of licensed content and ad display at the designated ad space.

A method and circuit for precisely synchronizing clocks in separate nodes on a communication network is provided by adjusting timestamps and related data in network messages. The circuit will allow a daisy-chain connection of the nodes and will forward time synchronization frames while accounting for delays in a manner that does not use boundary clocks, but does not depart from the IEEE 1588 standard protocol. The delays will be added on the fly to synchronization packets and the IP checksum and frame CRC will be adjusted. Deterministic data delivery and redundant data paths are also provided in a full duplex Ethernet network.

Television advertising automated billing system

Advertising is marked with a code in a way which makes it difficult to fool the system. The advertising is marked with a code at the time the advertising is produced. Then, when the advertising is broadcast, the code on the advertising is analyzed. Different security measures can be used, including producing the code in the closed captioning so that many different people can see the code, or comparing codes in one part of the signal with a code in another part of the signal. Measures are taken to prevent the code from being used to detect commercials. According to another part of this system, a paradigm for a clearinghouse is disclosed in which the user signs up with the clearinghouse, obtains a line of credit, and the advertiser, the agency, and the ad producer also subscribe to the service. When the ad is actually aired, the payment can be automatically transferred.

A method and apparatus for verifying players' bets on a gaming table is comprised of a system that can detect the monetary value of a wager that is placed by a particular player at a gaming table. Once all betting is finalized, the detected monetary value of the players' bets is locked and / or recorded thereby preventing that value from being changed by the addition or removal of betting chip(s) from a player's respective bet. If after the results of the gaming round, there is a discrepancy or mismatch between a player's wager and the locked monetary value of a player's bet, casino personnel will be alerted of the player's possible cheating practices thereby enabling them to investigate the matter.

Automatic threshold selection method for improving the detection of a wireless signal

System and method for improving the detection performance of a wirelessly transmitted signal. A preferred embodiment comprises specifying a desired response for missed channel detection and false alarm probabilities for a plurality of signal qualities and determining if a channel detection threshold is based on missed channel detection or false alarm probabilities for the plurality of signal qualities. A signal quality estimate of a channel can be inferred from a signal quality measurement of a second channel, wherein the channel and the second channel are sourced by a single transmitter. The channel detection threshold can be adjusted based upon the previously determined required response and the signal quality estimate of the channel.

Kernel-Based Method for Detecting Boiler Tube Leaks

A method and apparatus are provided for diagnosing faults in a monitored system that is monitored by sensors. An empirical model is generated for a targeted component of the monitored system. The empirical model is trained with an historical data source that contains example observations of the sensors. Substantially real-time estimates are generated based on instrumented data corresponding to the targeted component. The substantially real-time estimates are compared and differenced with instrumented readings from the sensors to provide residual values. The residual values are analyzed to detect the faults and determine a location of the faults in the monitored system.

Method for creating a linear programming model of an industrial process facility

A method for creating a linear programming (LP) model of an industrial process facility is disclosed. The model may be used for interactively simulating and / or optimizing the operation of the facility to facilitate feedstock selection and / or other economic analyses. According to the inventive method, a first principles reference tool is used to create a non-linear reference model of the entire facility. Then, independent input variables and key output variables are specified, and initial values for the independent input variables are specified. Base case values for each key output variable are determined by running the non-linear reference model using the specified initial values for the independent input variables. Next, partial derivatives for each key output variable with respect to each independent input variable are determined. A matrix is constructed containing the base case values and partial derivatives. The matrix serves as the depiction of the industrial process facility in the final LP, which may also include prices, availabilities, and other external constraints.

Energy management methods and systems based on financial impact

Energy management methods and systems based on financial impact are disclosed herein, wherein an energy management system at a site monitors metered energy consumption, establishes a peak consumption level, determines whether energy consumption will result in an increased peak consumption level, and if it will, calculates the financial value and costs of mitigating an increase in the peak consumption level, including an increase in demand charge prospectively avoided, and mitigates the peak in consumption to the peak consumption level using an energy storage system or other energy providing device if the value of mitigating the peak offsets the inherent costs. Embodiments may further use confidence factors or incremental changes to a peak consumption level to optimize the process and utilize energy devices to their greatest effectiveness.

Apparatus and method for clamping reset voltage in image sensor

For clamping a reset voltage within an image sensor, an active pixel generates a first reset voltage, and an optical black pixel generates a second reset voltage. In addition, a reset voltage selector selects one of the first and second reset voltages as a selected reset voltage. Such a selected reset voltage is generated separately for each column of the array of pixels in the image sensor for more accurately and flexibly accounting for fabrication variations.

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to construct an optimal parameterization for a discrete surface patch. A three-dimensional image having a surface is selected. An initial parameterization of the surface onto a two-dimensional plane is constructed. A distortion of the initial parameterization is measured. A length parameter, an area parameter, and an angle parameter are specified. The initial parameterization is then optimized through a discrete deformation of a parameter domain that minimizes the distortion based on the length, area, and angle parameter.
