Fine particle lint filter

A lint filter having a succession of mesh screens which are arranged in parallel in a tank which receives lint-containing water from a laundry facility. The mesh screens are positioned so that the lint-containing water must pass through the screens in order to leave the tank. The lint-containing water is sprayed evenly on one side of the tank and proceeds across the tank toward the mesh screens. The mesh screens are angled so that lint and particles contained in the lint-containing water are allowed to fall to the bottom of the tank. Multiple exits allow lint-filtered water to leave the lint filter.

Water surface cleaning machine

The water surface cleaning machine is a self contained unit that travels on a water surface and collects floating debris. This water surface cleaning machine contains a propulsion means for propelling itself across the water. Debris is collected in a net or porous basket. The water surface cleaning machine contains a microcontroller to control its operations. The water surface cleaning machine has a manually operated mode and an automated mode. A radio controller can be used in the manual mode to remotely steer the water surface cleaning machine towards any floating debris for extremely quick and efficient cleaning of a water surface. In the automated mode, the water surface cleaning machine operates without intervention cleaning the pool of water and recharging its batteries. The water surface cleaning machine contains preprogrammed routines for efficiently cleaning the water surface. Switches or pressure sensors located on the exterior of its housing detect contact with external objects and a flow sensor monitors the water surface cleaning machine's motion. The microcontroller is programmed to redirect the water surface cleaning machine if its motion is prevented. The water surface cleaning machine is powered by batteries and solar cells. The microcontroller monitors the battery's charge, the solar cell's output and controls the recharging of the battery. The water surface cleaning machine includes an energy conservation mode to conserve the batteries energy. An analog to digital converter converts input from the batteries, flow sensors and switches to a form useable by the microcontroller.

Nonvolatile semiconductor memory device

A nonvolatile semiconductor memory device comprises a readout circuit which reads data stored in a selected memory cell by applying predetermined voltage to the selected memory cell and a reference cell such that currents corresponding to the respective threshold voltage may flow, and comparing the current flowing in the selected memory cell with the current flowing in the reference cell. The readout circuit commonly uses the reference cell set in the same storage state for normal readout and for readout for program verification, and when the predetermined voltage is applied to the selected memory cell and the reference memory cell at the time of the readout for the program verification, it sets an applying condition to the reference memory cell such that its storage state may be shifted more in the program state direction than that in an applying condition at the time of the normal readout.

Apparatus for trapping floating and non-floating particulate matter

A separation tank with an outer chamber and an inner chamber within the outer chamber. An inlet and outlet are formed in the outer chamber to receive and discharge water, respectively. An inlet opening is located in the inner chamber and is generally aligned with the inlet to receive water from the inlet. An outlet opening is formed in the inner chamber below the inlet opening but above the bottom of the inner chamber. The inner chamber has a cylindrical interior surface such that water from the inlet is directed at a tangent to the interior surface and forms a vortex as the water progresses through the inner chamber. A baffle plate having an opening forming upper and lower weirs is located within the outer chamber just upstream of the outlet to separate both floatable and non-floatable material from the water prior to its discharge.

Method of and apparatus for cleaning runoff water

Runoff water from parking lots and filling stations is cleaned by first passing it via an inlet pipe tangentally into a vortex chamber where the swirling action helps to separate the contaminants from the water. Floating contaminants are stored in the vortex chamber, trapped at the top of the chamber by the roof of that chamber and at the lower part of the chamber by a skirt which is part of the chamber and extends downwardly for a limited distance from the inlet pipe. That roof has an access opening to permit removal of the floating contaminants. The body of the fluid thereafter moves downward into a settling chamber where heavier-than-water contaminants settle to the bottom where they can be removed during regular cleaning. As the fluid in the settling chamber builds up it passes through cleaning screens to a clean water outlet. A by-pass overflow pipe to process very large volumes of water extends upward from the settling chamber and ultimately feeds the outlet pipe. Each screen may have louvers projecting from the screen for preventing contaminants from blocking the screen.
