The invention relates to a device and a method for sand and soil two-dimensional non-saturating
percolation experiment. The device comprises an experiment box body and a
water level adjusting container, wherein the experiment box body is separated into a
water storage cavity and a
material storage cavity by a vertical separating plate, and the
water level adjusting container and the
water storage cavity are communicated by a
siphon tube; horizontal
water seepage holes are formed in the vertical separating plate, vertical water leaking holes are formed in a bottom plate of the
material storage cavity, and horizontal water leaking holes are formed in a side plate of the
material storage cavity; positive panels of the
water storage cavity and the material storage cavity adopt transparent panels, and the surfaces of the panels are provided with square network marking lines. The method comprises the following steps of filling experiment sand and soil into the material storage cavity, setting the
water level of the water storage cavity, observing the
wetting front change process of a
percolation area, shooting, and recording; observing the water draining conditions of the vertical water leaking holes and the horizontal water leaking holes; when the
wetting front does not change, and the
percolation is stable, measuring the space distribution of non-saturating
water content, sampling at the crossing point of the square network marking line, calculating the
mass and volume water contents, and drawing a
distribution rule map of volume water contents in the vertical and horizontal directions.
