Simultaneous white light and hyperspectral light imaging systems

A computer-assisted surgical system simultaneously provides visible light and alternate modality images that identify tissue or increase the visual salience of features of clinical interest that a surgeon normally uses when performing a surgical intervention using the computer-assisted surgical system. Hyperspectral light from tissue of interest is used to safely and efficiently image that tissue even though the tissue may be obscured in the normal visible image of the surgical field. The combination of visible and hyperspectral images are analyzed to provide details and information concerning the tissue or other bodily function that were not previously available.

Article & method for inducing proper breathing during sleep cycles to reactivate bodily functions

A sleep assist article and associated method for establishing proper breathing patterns. An adhesive tape body is releasably secured upon a face of a person and exhibits an inner aperture defined by an inner edge surface, and through which upper and lower lips of the person extend. The body establishes a check valve in a first inhalation stage, to facilitate breathing through the person's nasal passages while inhibiting inhaling orally. The body further operates to permit exhaling orally, and while concurrently inhibiting nasal exhalation. The device optimizes an oxygen intake percentage within a user's lungs, as well as an associated oxygen saturation during repetitive breathing cycles associated with an induced sleep pattern and to improve sleep cycles, reduce incidences of sleep apnea, and to provide other health benefits.

The invention provides a method and system for bringing an exercising human subject to the state of optimal psycho-physical functioning, in effect the “runner's high”, by facilitating the state of heart rate variability coherence while the subject is exercising. This is achieved by synchronization of the varying breathing cycle with the varying heart rate variability cycle. This is accomplished by providing a biofeedback signal to the exercising subject indicating when to begin inhalation and when to begin exhalation. Additionally, the human subject is provided with a programmable tempo that is in keeping with the heart rate variability cycle to which their physical motion may be synchronized. An instructive method in the optimal application of the present invention is also provided.
