It is typically housed in a smaller chip package, but more importantly, in order to run cooler, it uses lower voltages than its desktop counterpart and has more sleep mode capability. A mobile processor can be throttled down to different power levels or sections of the chip can be turned off entirely when not in use. Further, the clock frequency may be stepped down under low processor loads. This stepping down conserves power and prolongs battery life.

A system and method for obtaining an item includes retrieving consolidated data concerning an item from a provider infrastructure, the consolidated data including data elements from a source of the item and data elements concerning a mobile user of the provider infrastructure. Verifiable authorization is retrieved from the provider infrastructure for the mobile user of the provider infrastructure to obtain the item from the source of said item consistent with the consolidated data. The consolidated data may have various data elements specific to the source of the items such as price offers, rebates, incentives and discounts and location of the item and various data elements specific to the mobile user such as gift certificates, loyalty programs, buyers' group participation and location of the mobile user in relation to the specific source. The verifiable authorization from said provider infrastructure is displayed on a device for said mobile user of said provider infrastructure to obtain the item from the source of the item consistent with the consolidated data. If a purchase decision is made, the system and method for obtaining an item may also include retrieving payment verification from the provider infrastructure for the item from the source of the item. This payment verification is consistent with the consolidated data and by a preselected method of payment by the mobile user of the provider infrastructure. Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for shutting down and restarting a computer system. A processor interrupt may be generated in response to the activation of a mechanical switch on a removable processor board. The processor may be switched from a first operating mode to a second operating mode in response, and the cause of the processor interrupt may be determined. The processor may then be switched from the second operating mode back to the first operating mode, and a software component executing within the first operating mode may be notified to shut down. According to another aspect of the invention, performance information may be periodically stored in a memory. A processor interrupt may be generated in response to a system anomaly, and the operating mode of the processor may be switched from a first mode to a second mode. Based on the performance information, the system may be restarted, or, alternatively, a component within the system may be restarted or replaced.

The present invention relates to a method and system for recognizing offloaded packets. Firstly, according to the method of the present invention, a common attribute of connection identifications among a plurality of offloaded connections is calculated. Then, a connection identification of a packet is recognized to determine whether the connection identification of the packet has the common attribute so as to determine whether the packet is a non-offloaded packet. Therefore, the method of the present invention can promptly recognize the non-offloaded packet to greatly lower the recognition workload of an embedded processor, to improve the efficiency of executing a partial offloaded process by the embedded processor and to decrease the operation delay of the non-offloaded packet in a protocol offload processing system.

Systems and methods for preventing the unauthorized removal of mobile processor-based devices from designated areas (e.g., inside of a shopping area). The system may utilize a beacon technology based on a low energy protocol to prevent unauthorized removal of the devices. An anti-theft beacon system which includes an RF beacon transmitter may be positioned proximate an exit of a designated area. Mobile processor-based devices detect beacon signals from the anti-theft beacon system. Responsive to such detection, a device determines that it has been removed from the designated area. The device may then perform one or more anti-theft actions, including operating as a beacon once removed from the designated area. An auxiliary power source may power a beacon of the mobile processor-based device when the mobile processor-based device has been removed from the designated area so that the beacon may still broadcast signals even when a primary power source is disabled.
