A unique fin-shaped feature of one preferred embodiment stabilizes the device within the relaxed hand and adapts the device to fit a range of user hand sizes.

A hand-size structured-light three-dimensional metrology imaging system and method. Laser illumination stripes are scanned across a workpiece surface for obtaining z-height and x-coordinate information. A Scheimpflug configuration is used. Utilizing this configuration, a laser illumination stripe across a raised workpiece portion will be shown in a contour image at the image sensor in a focused manner, such that the offsets along the contour image line due to the raised portions of the workpiece surface can be accurately converted to a z-height measurement. The y-axis positions associated with each of the contour images, used for reassembling the information from the contour images into a surface map for the workpiece, may be determined without the need for a position sensor, by including a reference object in the contour images.

Sensor Fusion Algorithms for a Handheld Controller that Includes a Force Sensing Resistor (FSR)

Logic of a handheld controller can implement sensor fusion algorithms based on force data provided by a force sensing resistor (FSR) in combination with touch data or proximity data provided by a touch sensor or an array of proximity sensors, respectively. An example sensor fusion algorithm can be used to re-calibrate the FSR when an object contacts an associated control, as detected by the touch sensor. Another example sensor fusion algorithm can be used to ignore spurious inputs detected by the FSR when an object is in contact with an adjacent control. Another example sensor fusion algorithm can be used to detect a hand size of a hand grasping a handle of the controller, as detected by the array of proximity sensors, and to adjust the threshold force to register a FSR input event at the FSR according to the hand size.

Reverse cantilever assembly for input devices

A computer pointing device, such as a mouse or trackball, includes a reverse cantilever button assembly to match strength-related variations in user hand size. In one embodiment a button assembly is built with two cantilever beams, the fulcrums for each beam being at opposite ends of the button assembly. The invention discloses a video-streaming-based hand positioning method. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) acquiring a section of image sequence by using a camera, and acquiring position and size information of a human face in an acquired image; (2) according to the position and size information of the human face, determining a hand-waving detection area, and calculating the size of a hand; (3) calculating whether the hand waving is produced in the hand-waving detection area, and acquiring the central position point of a changed pixel area if the hand waving is detected; and (4) determining a hand search area by taking the central position point of the changed pixel area as a reference point according to the size of the hand which is calculated in step (2), and positioning the accurate position of the hand. By the video-streaming-based hand positioning method, a method for positioning hands can be simplified; and the video-streaming-based hand positioning method is relatively humanized.
